If the mask works, why did we have to shut down the country? If the mask doesn’t work, why are we being told to wear them?

If the mask works, why did we have to shut down the country? If the mask doesn’t work, why are we being told to wear them?
And if vaccines work, why are the vaccinated worried about the unvaccinated infecting them? LOL
