Modern man claims that the shows and media of today have no effect on him and that he can continue like normal but is in denial that it actually does affect through desensitization and more than anything else, spiritual blindness.

Many would like to probably quote the passage where Our Lord talks about not being affected by what goes into the mouth rather than what comes from it, but He was specifically talking about excessive dependence on the Old Law and extraneous prescriptions imposed by the Pharisees. They missed the point of the why one follows a law, which is for the sake of salvation and to grow in virtue rather than being merely dependent as automatons on going through the motions according to the letter of the law. That is from what I ascertain from that passage of Holy Writ. It would be good to see what the commentary of Church Fathers and theologians on that very passage.
