  • ...doesn't exist!  HA!

You thought there was something "redeeming" or glorious about pagan cultures? Didn't think so  :furtive:

On the contrary, stories like this just glorify God and His One True Church because He has pulled us out of darkness by means of His Truth.

Anyhow, China is certainly pagan -- it was, is, and probably will be until the Consecration of Russia. So you'd expect ugly paganism and misery to reign there, right?

Sure enough, darkness and misery reign supreme. But what if the stories of misery sounded JUST LIKE the news stories you hear in the "God bless the USA" so-called "Christian" United States?

I know I've heard plenty of stories just like this one, only the locale was the USA, not pagan China.

My point? We're going back to paganism, if we're not there already.

SHANGHAI, China (AP) -- A drunken man tossed his 10-month-old baby out a window in China's commercial hub of Shanghai, but the girl survived the eight-story plunge, newspapers reported Friday.

The girl's fall apparently was slowed by tree branches and she landed on soft soil, only breaking her leg, the Shanghai Daily said.

Her father, 26-year-old security guard Yu Dongrui, was in police custody and said the girl had slipped from his arms while playing, the paper said.

Police said the father had been drinking alcohol and had been arguing with his mother-in-law, the newspaper reported. Yu was estranged from his wife, who had asked for a divorce earlier this year and moved to another city, the paper said.

Prior to the fall, the woman's mother had placed the girl in Yu's arms, saying she would no longer take care of her, and told him he was no longer welcome in her home, the paper said.

"Yu took sleeping pills in the morning and started drinking in the afternoon," police officer Zong Yuan was quoted as saying. "The argument with his mother-in-law started when she asked him to leave her house," Zong said.

The child was listed as out of danger after being treated in a local hospital in Shanghai's suburban Jiading district.

  • To say we are "returning to paganism" is, in a way, an insult to the pagans of the pre-Christian West.  The neo-paganism is much more disordered than the paganism of many Western, pre-Christian civilizations [btw, I am not here saying all was well in these cultures].

Belloc profitably discusses the differences between paganism and neo-paganism, showing how the new version is even worse than the former.

  • Good point, and I agree.

I learned about pagan Greece in my "humanities" year. The Greeks (and others) had their virtues, and they certainly weren't as disordered as men of today.

The biggest difference is that the actual PAGANS didn't have to reject Christ. They just didn't know about Him.

The neo-pagans of today HAVE rejected Christ. So today's (neo-)paganism is inherently more malicious.

  • The height from which we are falling is much greater - and so must be the crash.

  • Yes I agree paganism the true form is not a hateful christ rejecting beleif. In fact my husband and I were both baptised catholics and both went to the same church as children- we both strayed from the faith, my husband ended up becoming a pagan after a while of folling no religion at all. But he does not worship several gods, he does not worship any devils, he is a sweet kind caring a gentle man who does not beleive in abortion, or cheating or divorce and he is a good father- he is also very supportive of my return to the catholic faith and assisting me in any way he can. The only difference is because he feels there is something out there he just doesnt know what it is so he chooses to beleive in the earth and everything in it  (every plant, every raindrop, every creature and every bit of dirt) serves a purpose.
This was/is the TRUE paganism is (not the swinging sometimes hateful) paganism that some pagans are today- but not all are that way.

I'm possibly taking this out of context, but I think this quote is appropriate...

"If you do not kneel before the Cross of Christ you will bow before a stick"

And that's precisely what people in the Japanese Shinto religion are doing. Just about anything and everything has a "Kami" that can be worshiped.

Naturalistic religions of themselves are void of any moral codes and have to borrow them from some other religion. In the end any good ethics found in any ancient false religion are distortions of the instructions handed down in the Old Covenant.
