On that note I'd say that for a civilization to thrive there must be communication between persons, and for communication to work there must be truth and honor.

So I'd say that two of the important pillars of civilization are honor and trust. Basically speaking, a man who fulfills his promises, is truthful, and does not back stab, manipulate, or deceive, is an extraordinary asset to the community and a perfect example of a civilized man.

The only book I ever bought from TIA, was the "Catholic Manual of Civility." I'm sure if you went to their website, you could read it. It was translated from Portuguese, and revised to reflect the times we live in, but ALL Brazilian boys in Catholic School years ago had to go through this book. :) It's great.

Some of the chapters are on their website underneath this introduction.

True. but whose civility? How much civility?
It is too subjective I'm afraid.

Great book, and great site. It has been on my list for some time now, and that site has some great articles. Very good.
