  • It's utterly dismal. But it's good to see an implicit rejection of the myth of progress and its wretched chronological snobbery. So very few today are not chronological snobs.

  • It really is an accurate portrayal of the so-called "American Dream" -- how 95% of American lives go.

This video should be considered "Part II: After the first divorce" because I've personally seen several couples marry at the typical post-college-graduation age (or earlier), and those marriages last about 2-7 years. So the woman in this video is a few years later, when she's ready to settle down and do the "marriage & family" thing.

  • Well, yes that was depressing. I agree that it was missing the obligatory divorce also.

Then we could see that "seeking exciting romantic partner" aspect (which follows the settling for domestic compatibility to procreate aspect).  Then the woman can flit around in inappropriate clothing and posture and flirt with the next guy.  There will be concerts, camping and BBQ's, followed by cohabitation, boring proposal and another wedding featuring photographs with everyone straining their facial muscles to look like excited smiles.

Oh, don't forget, everyone has their children act as participants in the wedding ceremony: ring bearer, flower girls, even bridesmaids and groomsmen!  (No matter they are under the age of 12!).

This is marriage and life without God.  Period.

  • The video tells more truth than it means to -- I think it's meant to be a jaded, frank portrayal of life today.

But it's only a commentary on how empty the American Dream and mainstream Protestant culture is.

Do you think NO Catholics are different?

People today have very warped ideas about what is important and how things should be done.  And the last thing they want to do is listen or be tolerant of someone who disagrees.  They want to treat that person like a fool or lunatic.

And the most depressing thing is that the video does not describe something confined to America - the values are getting to be like that everywhere in the world.

    "I guess you'll do" - what a nightmare of a woman!

    edit:

I listened to it without sound the first time.  the voice is annoying

  • Many -- Most -- Novus Ordo Catholics are basically protestant in most measurable ways.

There's that key element we have to give them the benefit of the doubt, because they have the Catholic name, etc. but when it comes to practical results, they live like protestants.

They blend in with modern society, women wear pants and go to college, they use birth control, all the various elements of the American Dream (as seen in the video above) would apply to most of them.

Another aspect of the video that is essential to the bleakness of it - that will make many people resent this video (because people have been programmed to be hypersensitive to anything that might cast women in an unfavorable light) - is the way the woman is represented as dominating the process.  That's the way society is set up today - the woman is head of the household - and her whims are what drive things like public education, the housing bubble, the malls, restaurants, vacations, etc.

The husband has no power, no respect.

I just don't understand why the men go along with it.  Many men don't have the sense to recognize this sort of woman when she approaches him.  Sometimes I think their own mothers program them to accept that sort of life.  At any rate, it's not working, there is a demographic crisis.

  • I think most men go along with it because they don't think they have a choice.

They hope to find one who's above-average nice, who won't be downright mean to him.

They consider that if they DON'T go ahead and take a chance, they will end up in a studio apartment masturbating for the rest of their lives (remember, these are pagans we're talking about. They don't know how virtue, vice, etc. work)

When you add up all the errors taught in public school, it's no surprise that men fall for this kind of stuff.
