"Active Measures" is the KGB/FAPSI word used to describe demoralization efforts used by pro-communists to weaken and destabilize a population to make them more vulnerable to infiltration and propaganda-driven change.

Here is KGB intelligence defector Yuri Bezmenov describing active measures in an interview --

Note that several KGB intelligence defectors wrote books claiming that the Communist power behind the Soviet Union never lost its grip, and that the collapse of Communism was an organized media event designed to move attention away from Soviet power. The "former" Soviet oligarchy aligned with the worldwide central banking system to create UN Agenda 21. Gorbechev, the last Soviet leader, helped create the Earth Charter which is at the heart of UN Agenda 21.

Interesting, tell me more.  I knew the Cold War and Soviet collapse were just media stunts.  How correct is it to say the USSR simply transferred itself to Israel and the U.S.?  Surely Russia can't be called Communist anymore, Putin seems to be reversing a lot of its influence.

  • Please learn about Soviet active measures --

The Soviet oligarchy never lost power. The downfall of the USSR was a planned media event, to distract from the communist agenda.

Active measures is the plan to demoralize the West.

From “Masters of Seduction,” by Jeri Lynn Ball:

At the Sixth Party Congress held in Moscow in 1928, Communists wrote and approved “The Program” to bring in the nєω ωσrℓ∂ σr∂єr. What most Americans don’t know is the real nature of this diabolical criminal scheme. The Program of the Third International called for a global environmental program and for the transformation of all human beings on earth to accept the nєω ωσrℓ∂ σr∂єr. The Communists planned to use the global environmental program as a means of eradicating national sovereignty and creating a world dictatorship. All nations, nationalities, and national boundaries were to be replaced by an omnipotent, one-world government and regional governances. The Communists did not want the American approach to liberty, with individual God-given rights protected by a government with limited powers. The Communists did not want the American concept of rule of law. They wanted unrestrained despotic government, power without limit, a world without laws—a brutal, terror-inspiring global totalitarian police state which could smash all laws of justice, launch campaigns of enslavement and mass murder, and eliminate opponents of the nєω ωσrℓ∂ σr∂єr. Twenty delegates from the U.S. voted for the 1928 Program of the Third International.

  • Thanks for sharing. Tv has always been a good debatable topic for years since it has equal number of benefits and problems as well.

  • We decided, well, my husband decided, that he doesn't want our daughter watching T.V. ever, except the occasional good movie. That's fine by me. It does bring up a problem when visiting family around Christmas time. Does anyone else restrict their children from watching T.V. while visiting family, and how did that go for you? We aren't expecting them to turn off the T.V., but I'm fully expecting a lot of tension to arise when I take my daughter from the room when the TV comes on.
It's so frustrating. My side of the family doesn't even know how to socialize anymore. Our get together's are everyone staring at their phones and watching the T.V.
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

  • They will be watching TV while celebrating Christmas? It is good manners to turn it off when you have visitors. Is there no way to gently hint at the obvious? Wouldn't it be nice to actually talk to each other, since you have taken the trouble to visit? It goes to show just how low we have fallen.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

They are incredibly sensitive about what we say. When we mention something along those lines my father tells me our extreme ideas are stupid and my mom flails her arms in the air, chokes out through tears "we just aren't good enough for you" and stomps into the other room. Then the ruined get together is blamed on us. My parents also demand that if we have a problem with anything regarding our daughter that it must be voiced through me, and not my husband. I fear that anything I say will turn the get together into a horrible event for everyone.  We are dreading it so much. I've been anxious the past couple of weeks just thinking about it.

Christmas is nothing sacred to them. It's a time that they've cherished for sentimental reasons. Back before I was Catholic, our tradition was to get up Sunday morning, open presents, and then watch movies and TV all day. No mention of Jesus what-so-ever. Even as a Protestant it always bothered me but it was my parents house so I was always scared of saying something. Every year the TV is on all the time- it's very deeply engrained.

  • I am so sorry, Jen! There is only prayer, it seems. If it's some consolation, yes, it's just as the Gospel says:

Luke 12: [51] Think ye, that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, no; but separation. [52] For there shall be from henceforth five in one house divided: three against two, and two against three. [53] The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against his father, the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother, the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Thankyou, Nadir. There is a lot of comfort in that piece of scripture. I am always happy to be reminded of it. We cannot lose our souls to stay in good graces with family. The way truly is narrow and filled with strife. The destination is worth it all!

Am appreciating what you have written in detail, and your honesty about your family.  I was happy in reading seeing that you have a wonderful husband to guide the family.  I was born protestant, too.  Television is no issue for me and haven't watched since grade school.  In Hawaii, having a big screen tv is seen as a must.  When the state had its missile alert false alarm I was one of the very few who knew nothing until the headlines in the paper the next day in huge letters   "OOOPS."   That was because neither own tv, nor am into fb twitter, etc.  Lots of people were distraught and tearful goodbyes to family on the mainland were commonplace, evidently.  But it all happened online.  No evidence in people around me before I saw the headline on the next day.

  • I think the subject is very interesting and that TV is very much controlled by mass media and lobbies. much depends on the way we use them, I also think about how I use the Internet and how much information there are without values and contents. but I also think of my son as teaching him how to use TV and computers.
Like all things, even TV can be an instrument for evangelization and bring people closer to Jesus and the Church or an instrument for their own and others' perdition.

  • There was a study that said 47% off millennials & gen-x don't even watch television. That sounds like good news but the study found that they're just streaming media through other devices like tablets and smartphones.
