    • If a Catholic man (or woman, for that matter) marries a widow with children, is it his obligation to legally adopt the children and make them his own?  Or is it permissible to keep them merely as his step-children?

    • There is NO obligation in Catholicism to adopt them.

    That being said  the age of the children would influence greatly whether you adopt or not.

    Very young ...probably,  teens or older....probably not.
