If you are using marijuana for recreational purposes then that is a mortal sin and you would need to mention that sin in confession. The question about the use of marijauna for legitimate medical reasons is a different issue.

"The obligation to treat subsists, even when it may not be possible to cure!" I did not know that there was an "obligation to treat" and especially "when it may not be possible to cure". I have never heard of this obligation.

Nothing new here except the supposed obligation to treat. I would have thought the bolded words applied to all medicine, not just narcotic and psychotropic substances. I have known treatments to be forced on patients, one in particular: a child who had asked to have no more chemotherapy. Her parents supported her in her wish and she was removed from their custody. She died in cruel circuмstances without her loving parents able to be with her.

The obligation to treat refers to the moral obligation to offer treatment to the ill. No one is obligated to accept treatment that they feel is useless or where the side effects outweigh the benefits

Exactly. Would you deny treatment to someone who needs dialysis just because their kidney disease cannot be cured? Stents to a heart patient to prolong life?

Dravet syndrome is a rare epilepsy syndrome which can't be treated successfully with conventional methods (refractory). Although some respond to the good ol' ketogenic diet, low-THC hemp oil may be promising. It is still unknown how many respond to hemp better than to the diet, but nutritional methods should be tested throughly before research on "weed" can begin.

What is the big picture:
- Big Pharma suppresses both diets and hemp or
- Big Pharma and the "weed agenda" are working against epilepsy diets?
