Hey everybody!
So I have been going to SSPX daily mass when I can because it is very close to my house and I agree with the SSPX on Vatican II containing errors, etc.
I also have a great respect for FSSP priests, at least most of them because I was brought to tradition by that order. Fr. Ripperger seems to be one of the smartest priests I've ever heard speak, but in a certain talk (
http://en.gloria.tv/?media=170996) Father states that because the SSPX lacks jurisdiction it is a sin to attend public masses, and I have been doing this for awhile and receiving communion there, but a priest that I confess to occasionally before I heard this talk, said that it was ok to attend the SSPX masses but not go to confession there.
Now what doesn't make sense to me, if Fr. Ripperger is right, then the priest who told me I can go to the SSPX masses is wrong. On the hand, if I accept the argument about jurisdiction being supplied to the SSPX because of the crisis in the church, then that makes all this null and void and I should continue to attend and even start going to confession at the SSPX chapel too.
I hate to trouble people with this question, but it bothers me. And I just want to do whats right. I believe there is a crisis in the church and that the SSPX is truly Catholic. I have also been amongst many FSSP priests who believe the same thing, but say they don't agree with the 88 consecrations.
Regardless of that, what should I do? I am just confused now by what Fr. Ripperger said.
Anybody have any advice for me?
