    I have to wonder if this "Mass of Christian Burial" business is muddying the waters. 

    Novus Ordo parishes typically don't have MCBs at funeral homes, rather, they use the parish church.  I'm still tempted to think that the writers of the obituary simply thought "Mass of Christian Burial" is what all Catholic funeral Masses are called, based upon having written obituaries for many a Catholic, and not understanding that there is even such a thing as "traditional Catholicism".
