I was doing a little research on Solomon the other day and I came across this fact.
King Solomon according to the bible had 700 wives, 300+ mistresses.
How many of you knew that? No wonder the lord brought it down to one wife only.

I did. And it's something I occasionally think about. How could someone so gifted with wisdom still fall so greatly? Was he saved? Lord help us.

Yes. It is not known if he had a good death or not. The story is in III Kings, chapter 11:
And king Solomon loved many strange women besides the daughter of Pharao, and women of Moab, and of Ammon, and of Edom, and of Sidon, and of the Hethites: [2] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=2-#x) Of the nations concerning which the Lord said to the children of Israel: You shall not go in unto them, neither shall any of them come in to yours: for they will most certainly turn away your heart to follow their gods. And to these was Solomon joined with a most ardent love. [3] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=3-#x) And he had seven hundred wives as queens, and three hundred concubines: and the women turned away his heart. [4] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=4-#x) And when he was now old, his heart was turned away by women to follow strange gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father. [5] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=5-#x) But Solomon worshipped Astarthe the goddess of the Sidonians, and Moloch the idol of the ammonites.
[6] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=6-#x) And Solomon did that which was not pleasing before the Lord, and did not fully follow the Lord, as David his father. [7] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=7-#x) Then Solomon built a temple for Chamos the idol of Moab, on the hill that is over against Jerusalem, and for Moloch the idol of the children of Ammon. [8] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=8-#x) And he did in this manner for all his wives that were strangers, who burnt incense, and offered sacrifice to their gods. [9] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=9-#x) And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his mind was turned away from the Lord the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, [10] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=10-#x) And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not follow strange gods: but he kept not the things which the Lord commanded him.
[11] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=11-#x) The Lord therefore said to Solomon: Because thou hast done this, and hast not kept my covenant, and my precepts, which I have commanded thee, I will divide and rend thy kingdom, and will give it to thy servant. [12] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=12-#x) Nevertheless in thy days I will not do it, for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son. [13] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=13-#x) Neither will I take away the whole kingdom, but I will give one tribe to thy son for the sake of David my servant, and Jerusalem which I have chosen. [14] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=14-#x) And the Lord raised up an adversary to Solomon, Adad the Edomite of the king's seed, in Edom.
[...]
And the rest of the words of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom: behold they are all written in the book of the words of the days of Solomon. [42] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=42-#x) And the days that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel, were forty years. [43] (http://drbo.org/cgi-bin/d?b=drb&bk=11&ch=11&l=43-#x) And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father, and Roboam his son reigned in his stead.

The best of men have been undone by their choice of spouse (or mistress). It's a good lesson.

Anyone who has read the Bible knows that. I would hope that includes just about everyone here. Wait til you get to the part about King David.

King David cheated on his wife with his best friend’s wife. She becomes pregnant. Then King David sends his buddy into battle to die.

Cassini is know in these parts for his knowledge of the Bible, which makes it all the more puzzling for me that he just discovered the fact.

Solomon was also violating the First Commandment. There are stories that he had this occult "ring" through which he had power over a demon (or some demons) that he used to build the temple. I do believe that many of those ancient megalithic structures that would be impossible to build even with our modern technology were constructed with the aid of demons ... and their motivation would be clear, as the vast majority of these structures were temples for the worship of false (demonic) gods.

I often realize things when reading the bible even now as if I had never read them. It's very strange, but keeps it interesting as I never know what I will learn next time I read it. In most cases it is just me not understanding something at the time, but sometimes it is as if I know I had never seen what I just read.

Oh, I don't think there are any megalithic structures that couldn't be built today. I think we're just not familiar with the methods used in their construction.
Watch the video in this article about Stonehenge (https://www.redteam.com/build-stonehenge-today/), and you see a famous construction worker in Michigan who moves enormous rocks around rather easily by an ingenious set of techniques that mostly involve delicate balancing of weight and positioning, but one guy can move a rock the size of a car with a few simple tricks that he describes and demonstrates in this video.
I don't know if the ancient Brits used those techniques, but Stonehenge will seem a lot less impressive to you after you watch that video. In fact, it kind of ruined Stonehenge for me, on a certain level. :(
From the article:
Wally Wallington, a retired construction worker, has generated a lot of attention, including appearances on the Discovery Channel and his own YouTube videos, for his theory and recreation of how Stonehenge was built. Wally discovered that using simple wooden handles and a small stone as a tiny fulcrum would enable him to move a 19,200 pound block by himself.
You just gotta watch that video, your jaw will be hanging down the whole time.

Almost everyone on CI knows this about Solomon. Frankly, the post doesn't sound like Cassini, imo. The chosen text/font is also odd.

I disagree. I'm not talking about things on the scale of Stonehenge, but things like at Baalbek (interesting name, eh?), the largest single stone of which has been estimated to be 1,650 TONS. Some of these stones, weighing hundreds of tons, had to have been quarried hundreds of miles from their final resting location, and others were carried up into mountains and the sides of hills. In fact many of these cultures have stories about how the "gods" built these things for them. That of course has been spun by the Ancient Aliens crowd, but I am a strong believer that these oral traditions are founded in truth and not just fanciful stories. You can be darn sure that the demons were active all around the world creating false religions.

I didn't know the exact number (and was surprised at the 700 + 300), but I did know it was a lot. I must say, however, that I struggle to understand the distinction Solomon would have made between "wives" and "mistresses". At that point, what exactly is the diff?

I believe such stories are from occult Jєωιѕн and Islamic sources. Would the Lord give Solomon instructions on how to build the Temple without providing him the means of building it? After all, the Lord did grant Solomon the gift of wisdom. Unfortunately, as time goes by, it seems that Solomon began losing it by marrying foreign women.
Note also I Kings 9:
And the Lord said to him: I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, which thou hast made before me: I have sanctified this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever, and my eyes and my heart shall be there always. [4] And if thou wilt walk before me, as thy father walked, in simplicity of heart, and in uprightness: and wilt do all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my ordinances and my judgments, [5] I will establish the throne of thy kingdom over Israel for ever, as I promised David thy father, saying: There shall not fail a man of thy race upon the throne of Israel. [6] But if you and your children revolting shall turn away from following me, and will not keep my commandments, and my ceremonies, which I have set before you, but will go and worship strange gods, and adore them: [7] I will take away Israel from the face of the land which I have given them; and the temple which I have sanctified to my name, I will cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb, and a byword among all people.

yes, it was me. I was tempted to put the subject up on unfunny stuff but decided not to. It is his wisdom given by God to him that I was aware of, so when I read about his wives and mistresses that was new to me. Hadn't God given Moses the ten Commandments long before Solomon. Surely number seven, and no 10, inferred one husband and one wife was God's intention. I just took it for granted a biblical person like Solomon, blessed by God with wisdom lauded by Cardinal Bellarmine, would have knowledge that 700 wives was outrageous and that 300 mistresses was adding to that. Imagine the squabbling that went on among them? One said to the other, its over two years since I was with him.
Oh, yes the text. My eyesight is getting worse so I upped it a bit to read better.

I don't discount everything in Jєωιѕн/Islamic sources when it comes to things of a historical nature. Who's to say that Solomon didn't decide at one point that it was too costly to keep building the temple and wondered if a demon couldn't help it along. After all, he was involved in all kinds of idolatry under the influence of his "wives".

Folks need to read their Bibles more. (It’s the one legitimate complaint Protestants have against Catholics, IMO.). Solomon fell into idolatry in the effort to please all his wives and concubines. Mostly, they were the spoils of war and, shall we say, very well kept! Unfortunately, the king had easy access to them right nearby. If he’d have set up their quarters an inconvenient distance away, maybe it wouldn’t have happened. Or, he could have forced them by decree to convert.
Imagine having 700+ mother’s-in-law!!!

And then there's the part when the Lord calls him "a man after My own Heart."
