Does it take a disaster for the word "Assumption" to make the news headlines?
The Feast of the Assumption in
Assumption Parish, Louisiana, is this year a time
of trepidation and uncertainty. A 200-ft diameter sink hole has appeared, with no
explanation and no known limits. Experts don't know what caused it so they don't
know how big it can get. People nearby are being evacuated. There is a liquid
butane filled mineshaft nearby, and if that ruptures, it could vaporize the butane,
which, if it escapes to the atmosphere and finds a spark somewhere, it could ignite
and potentially explode with a force greater than a nuclear bomb.

of this sinkhole, because a continental plate that crosses the USA has one edge,
he says, that runs through Louisiana in this bayou region.
