  • I have been asked to find out if there is any traditional Catholic literature or reading material suitable for children who have a sick parent, who possibly may not get well.  What is wanted is something that the younger children can read that helps them to cope with and understand arightly, how God wants them to look at this situation and what He would like from them, etc.  Yes, they also will be spoken with and have questions answered, but right now the inquiry is for a piece or two (or more) of appropriate reading material they can sit with and peruse if not now, then at some future point in time.  So far all I find is Novus Ordo material and it is "wanting," (no surprise, that).  Many thanks and God bless you all.

  • I don't know offhand. Do you know the ages?

  • Very young through upper grades.  Thanks for asking.

  • Reading the lives of the saints would always be good.

Are there any saints who were orphans?
    Lord have mercy.

  • I would suggest looking for suitable books from Catholic homeschool suppliers. Very, very many children who lost a parent a parent became saints, so lives of particular saints would be helpful St Therese is one.
