  • I liked this answer from a column I read yesterday:

    Quote from: Matt Walsh
First, since when are we only supposed to care about things that will physically or financially affect us? Don’t we normally condemn a person who fails to act or think or speak simply because he, himself, individually, isn’t yet feeling the effect of it? Don’t we criticize a person who doesn’t care until he’s getting punched in the nose by the problem?

When we’re dealing with moral quandaries — questions of right and wrong, truth and lies — it is not a legitimate argument to say “it doesn’t affect me.” It’s effect on you is irrelevant to the issue. What kind of moral idiot measures the impact of a certain evil on his own life and calibrates his concern accordingly? We might all do this sometimes, but it’s a weakness. It’s shameful. It’s cowardice and self-interest. It’s not good. You shouldn’t be proud of it.

  • Definitely rings true from where I stand.

With quotes like that, I can see why he has such a following.

  • I had someone ask me to come to a "Tea Party".  You know, the legislation route.
    I said no.  But why!?

Several reasons.  Been there and did it with no results.  The giant is bigger than we all know.  The Mass has the powers.

Why not do both?  Let's look at the Religious Liberty (rally).  Remember too, that communist want revolution.  Once you think you gained some inches in the rally, who is the gov't you look up to, the one who is the oppressor?  Then what?

I fought at the capital, and did the testimony thing.  Won once, I think in 1992 only to have it overturned.  So much energy and what was the result?

More is happening at the True Mass.  And we know as things continue to spiral down, only God can return things back and we are very close, I think!

When I found out, that the dioceses in all states and around the world are marxist and support the oppressor, the state, I got out.  New Order is just running the gov't the oppressor.  I see the New Order, like Frank Pavone, telling us to get up and rally against the oppressor, against abortion and etc. and he knows that the dioceses New Order that he is of, does the supporting of abortion and such.  He knows!  Now, do I want to rally with him?  No Way!  But he has my prayers to turn around his soul.

  • I've always wanted to ask Matt Walsh why he isn't Catholic yet. I've never seen him Catholic bash (that doesn't mean he hasn't), and I've seen him side with Catholics on many, if not most issues.
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

I'm pretty sure he is Catholic ... at least the N.O. variety.

Question: In your piece “Men and women are not equal,” you note that Christianity has taught that all humans have equal worth and dignity for 20 centuries, and you reference G. K. Chesterton, a famous Protestant convert to Catholicism. What are your religious beliefs?

Matt Walsh: I'm a devout Catholic. I love Chesterton, but my favorite Christian apologist is C. S. Lewis, who was a Protestant.

  • Nice!! I didn't know that- thanks Mater and Matthew! This give me leave to not feel so bad about enjoying his articles so much.

I've seen him post about pro-life issues before but I've never heard him condemn contraception (not that he hasn't).
