That kid is hilarious, good thing is, he is starting to use reasoning. Who knows he might make a good Thomist later on, if guided correctly. What is sad is to see an adult convinced by the logic of a baby
.
The level of thinking the kid had is remarkable, but it really lacks a foundation. Vegans who think they are somehow in communion with mother nature, because of their veganism are retarded. They are pseudo-mystics, that also think that they are being "compassionate." Yet these same people don't realize that not everything you buy can be made with "compassion", the same goes with the slave /inhuman conditions that our fellow human beings that make the products we consume in modern society.
For any Catholic who doubts what I am saying here is the opinion of St. Thomas on the matter. Remember we are talking about two different arguments, the reason why I am vegan is strictly for nutritional reasons and nothing more. I accept that no food we eat is sinful, I am of assuming that you are eating it moderately.
Suma II-II Q. 148 A. 1:
Objection 1: It would seem that gluttony is not a sin. For our Lord said (Mt. 15:11): "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man." Now gluttony regards food which goes into a man. Therefore, since every sin defiles a man, it seems that gluttony is not a sin.
Reply to Objection 1: That which goes into man by way of food, by reason of its substance and nature, does not defile a man spiritually. But the Jєωs, against whom our Lord is speaking, and the Manichees deemed certain foods to make a man unclean, not on account of their signification, but by reason of their nature [*Cf. FS, Question [102], Article [6], ad 1]. It is the inordinate desire of food that defiles a man spiritually.
Any food, and that includes junk food, cakes, quadruple cheeseburger, pasta, any meat etc... Does not defile you spiritually, they are all perfectly licit to eat and this is the important thing to realize. This does not mean that cakes are a nutritious food to eat, because they are not. Its pure empty calories with 0 fiber and add 0 to your nutritional profile, they cause disease etc... Yes this includes vegan processed foods also, which are not good for you, but nevertheless do not defile you spiritually. This is essentially what this kid is saying, that by eating the meat it defiles you in some way, which is wrong. The mother should have corrected him philosophically, even if the kid is right with respect to maybe that octopus, is not the healthiest thing out there. He of course at that age, can't somehow have arrived at that conclusion.
The
Hinduh gurus, and many vegeterians make the same sort of argument, that they are spiritually enhanced by their dietary choices. This is a bunch of manure, for your food choices ultimately have nothing to do with your relationship with God. Yes eating good can lead to better health, but it does not change your spirituality one bit. Eating very bad for a long period of time, will kill you and make you suffer unnecessary pain, but ultimately it will not mean that those who eat better are "holier" in any ways, because of their food choices. This distinction is extremely important, for many health advocates always seem to equate good food choices with spirituality. When it has absolutely nothing to do with it, whatever you decide to eat is your choice. I can't argue its the right choice, but I can condemn you for it. Even if you eat a diet of chips and coke, plus pure meat. I just wish you the best, when you get diabetes or die of a heart stroke. You can't expect to eat so unhealthy for such a long time, and for it not to come back and bite you back. For after all our body is a temple of the Holy spirit and we should try to take care of it by not mutilating it with excessive piercings and tattoos, or be morbidly obese. Extreme obesity can sometimes be a sign that a person, is a glutton but this is not the case all of the time. Therefore, we should attempt not to judge any particular cases. I do know of some people that have some real serious thyroid issues, and it is because of this that they have 30 extra pounds. They could improve their diet and drop an extra 20 easy, but folks with serious thyroid issues will have a hard time dropping the 5 to 10 extra pounds, unless they include lots of exercise. There are skinny people who are gluttons, the only reason why they sometimes don't gain the weight is because they have a ridiculous metabolism, but over the years even they will gain weight. Having a bad diet, will affect some earlier, and those who have genetically gifted bodies it will affect them later. No one however, will escape bad habits it will always come back to haunt you later. The better thing to do is to develop good habits and stick to them for life. No need to yo-yo between fad diets, and stick to a simple rule of thumb. Is this healthy food, or unhealthy food. If it is unhealthy food, don't eat it, if it is healthy then eat all you want.
Weight loss is not an exercise issue, it is rather a diet issue. Even my dad has lost like 40 pounds and has kept his weight, with 0 exercise and just eating good food. The same goes with even people who are bed ridden, and anyone else who thinks that they can expect to lose weight with just exercise. Even myself in top physical shape at the moment, would start gaining fat if I did not eat properly. You have to be doing ridiculous amounts of exercise in order for this to be true, and probably taking roids in the process. Kind of like Michael Phelps with his 10-12k calorie diet on his training days. The most I have had in my real hard training days, is something like 7-8k calories of raw fruits and vegetables, but that is hard trust me! You need to literally be training and eating all day to do this.
So I hope I covered well enough the distinction so that the logic of this kid was refuted. :light-saber:
Video was funny. By the way I am a vegan. Not sure if I mentioned that.
