  • I know someone who recently started a burrito restaurant and now wants to get help from/partner with/get funds from/etc. his cousin who runs a night club (it's not a strip club or anything like that but a regular bar/club whatever where people go to drink and dance to degenerate music, still a den of immorality of course) and who also brings all kinds of bad singers and bands into the country and organizes concerts for them etc.

I firmly believe these businesses his cousin has are immoral/dishonest, but I was wondering if it would be wrong in his case to team up with this person and use his (in my view) dirty money to expand his own honest business. I personally know these people. His cousin actually offered to invest, he didn't seek him out.

I don't see how it would be lawful to team up. You would be forced to give publicity to his own dirty business and of course endorse it, since they will be endorsing you, and who knows what else may happen down the road.

  • Most of us have had to sever all ties with our cousins, aunts, uncles etc. because of the faith, in those instances I think it's a no brainer that the offer would be ignored or refused.

In this case, the "good cousin" actually should reject the offer of the "bad cousin" on the grounds that he wants no part of or association with the immorality of his cousin.

That would be the right thing to do.

OTOH, he could take the offer on the condition that the "bad cousin" get out of the immoral business altogether.

Haha, in that case, there wouldn't be an offer anymore, because that's his cousin's "job" and source of income.

Like Stubborn said, most of us have had to sever ties with family because of the faith.  It's certainly not an easy thing to do...

I would suggest that it would be more beneficial for the individual to "partner" up with the Saints and request their intercession for the success of the business.  He should consecrate the business to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

I understand a thing or two about running a business, and I know that it can be difficult.  But first and foremost, our faith must be what guides us in everything we do.  Running a successful business entails more than margins and P&L statements.  I know that sounds very simple, but without faith there is no success.

    Quote from: Matthew 16:26
For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul?

That's impossible, he was raised Novus Ordo but now scoffs at religion and is living together with a girl. They aren't married and already have 2 children. He scoffs at marriage too, saying he doesn't see what the big deal is or how it will affect him from one day to the next.

Are you saying you won't have success in business undertakings if you're living in sin and/or are faithless? Because you well know that's not so.

What is success without faith?  Do we not owe all that we have to Almighty God?

Well of course from a spiritual standpoint being the richest man in the world but losing your soul is meaningless, but I thought you were referring to succeeding itself, that is, that you wouldn't unless you had the faith or lived in the state of grace.
