Is there are correct way in the direction of use of Rosary beads?  For example, I tend to move in a counter-clockwise fashion, much like this picture shows:

However, someone recently told me that you should always go clockwise.  Is there such a rule?

I've never heard of any.

My Mother always told me, "Hold on to the traditions which you have been taught." I was always taught counter-clockwise not only from her, but from my earliest catechisms.

That's interesting.  I was never taught to go one way or the other, counter-clockwise is just the way I tended to do.  Do you recall a reason for being told to do it that way?

If you're right-handed, the tendency would be to go counter-clockwise and clockwise if left-handed.  I'm right-handed and couldn't do clockwise if I tried ... not without just flipping the Rosary (medal and crucifix orientation) backwards.  I don't really think it matters; what's important is to pray the rosary with devotion.
