Not sure about the rest of the country, but in Minnesota, they are lopping a gratuitous $600/week on top of your unemployment benefit.
The result is that lower and mid-income workers (anyone who wasn’t clearing more than $1,400/week (net) are refusing to return to work, doing better now than when employed.
I’m wondering if that was the deliberate intention.
A rather ingenious way to ensure the shutdown persists, even if the governors reopen those industries (ie., Without workers, those industries remain shut down).
