  • A Dutch Catholic woman has captured headlines by reporting that she had traveled into the Islamic State to rescue her teenage daughter, who had flown to Syria to marry an Islamic militant.

The woman, whose name was not disclosed, took action after her 19-year-old daughter fell in love with an Muslim militant with whom she had corresponded online, and—having converted to Islam—traveled to Syria to marry him. Soon thereafter the mother received a message that the relationship had gone awry and the young woman was in trouble. The mother flew to Turkey and, by her account, crossed the border into Syria to meet her daughter in Raqqa, the city now claimed as the capital of the Islamic State. (Dutch authorities say that they believe the meeting actually took place at the border.)

Returned to the Netherlands, the young woman now faces criminal charges for her involvement with the Islamic State.

This could probably make a good movie.

  • This would make a good movie.
There was a movie made a few years back called "Not without my daughter"  Its stars Sally Field.  She marries a Moslem man.  They go back to Iran to visit his family.  He decides to stay and keep his daughter there.  Shows her efforts to get her daughter out of the country.
      Good flick!

  • The daughter, who was rescued, has already converted to Islam so she has ALREADY denied Our Lord.

What good is a rescue?  Did she renounce the idolatry of Islam and made a Confession before returning to the Catholic Faith?

These superficial happy stories may be okay for Poche and novus ordites who think all religions basically point to the truth but the entire scenario is rancid and horrible.

My first thought when I read this.

This woman is a 19 year old adult, hardly a "teenage daughter", as described, implying a child seduction.

However, I certainly don't fault a parent for rescuing a daughter from such a situation.  Now, perhaps, this loving mother will devote her efforts to helping her daughter return to a state of Grace.  That's true motherly love.

She can return to the Faith.
