  • Since the feast of Christ the King is tomorrow, I thought of starting a thread where we could discuss the issue of religious liberty. It is of course a huge factor in the crisis of the Church today.

  • Maybe the thread would better fit in the Church Crisis subforum, but I suppose the issue of religious liberty very much applies to how a Catholic should live in the modern world especially when it comes to public life.

  • I've never understood the religious liberty problem.  I keep thinking that because of free will people are always going to choose, and it's a waste of time (not to mention bad Christian form) to try forcing them one way or another.  Now, religious liberty INSIDE the Church is an unprecedented scandal and worse.

But inside the Church I don't see it as liberty.  Rather I see it as a theft of the faith.  But what if some do steal the faith.  We still have it and can hand it out at will.  It's not in short supply or in danger of running out.  The truth remains even when those who should disseminate it, don't.  As apostles we also should disseminate it.  What matter if it's taken by some as long as it is returned by others.

  • It is not about forcing people to profess the Catholic faith. Governments are simply required to PUBLICLY confess the Catholic religion. As far as private homes go, there would be tolerance.
