Yes - for Confirmation before Vatican II, we girls had red beanies for head coverings, not veils, and wore a white robe like a school graduation robe, provided by the school/parish. We had to have a pastel colored dress for underneath, and turned in the beanie and robe the next school day. In fact, our school uniform in grade school had a blue beanie as part of it for when we all had to go to church. That long ago, lace veils were no so much in vogue; women and girls wore hats on Sundays and holydays.
