Record this movie tonite

Every couple years TCM runs one of the best Catholic family movies that was never released on VHS or DVD.
They are showing it tonite at 6:30 so if you have a TV or a friend does, you might want to record it.
The movie is When in Rome, starring Van Johnston and Paul Douglas, a priest and a convict who meet on their way to Rome for the 1950 Holy Year.
Suitable viewing for all ages.

Watched it with the family! Thanks. It was good. It's very 1950s. we liked it considering. We never heard so many traditional Catholic references in a movie. It was a bit of a cringe considering that all the things he did against Fr Halligan would have been sacrileges, including the (almost) punch even after his confession. We were joking that the sequel could be that Fr Halligan comes back for the 1975 jubilee and the church has changed with Paul VI on the throne. His friend is still in the hermitage, but they changed the rule and they gave up the silence - they'd all just sitting in the courtyard strumming guitars. haha

Also, it was not only available at 6:30. It's still available at the link above if you want to watch it. It's a Russian website and I was a little cautious about viruses and if it was legit. The pop up was just asking if you are not a robot (I had to translate the Russian?) and then you can view the webpage. The movie of course is in English. No subtitles, or only Russian subtitles perhaps.

Oh, it sounds very nice, glad y'all enjoyed it! I think I'll watch it in a few days.

Re the bolded text: I don't think it ever got subtitled or dubbed but I always loved this movie on that account, there's a funny scene where the priest takes out his Compendium Iuris Canonici and starts berating his parishioners in latin :laugh1: It's at 53:54.

In Welcome Mister Marshall, which is about a small Spanish village going overboard to receive the Marshall plan there's also a funny scene where the teacher is extolling the exports of America: steel, boats, cars, etc. and the parish priest barges into the room and says "How about their export of heretics? In America there's 13 million baptists, 8 million methodists, 2 million lutherans, and 7 million that... I don't even think *they* know what they are!"

I do wonder how people in this forum feel about the Don Camillo series.
