    • I am relatively new to this forum.

    I am working on a project toward trying to get kids to be pure in body and spirit. I do not know where this is going to lead me but I am seeking ideas from anyone as to what parents should do to prevent impurity in their children and teens. A suggestion I have already received was to bar them from smart phones and internet. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. This applies for boys and girls.

    • No rock and roll, rap, hip hop, classic rock, oldies, etc. nothing from the last 80 years or so - and no TV and home school them - never put  them in public school no matter what.

    Teach them to live the interior life and practice self sacrifice and to pray. Educate them in the faith lest they have no reason for purity. Pray the family rosary and the Novena to the Holy Ghost daily, teach them about Our Blessed Mother and the Holy Family. Assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass (TLM) every Sunday and Holy Day without fail, avoid ALL THING novus ordo at all times no matter what.  

    The list could go on for pages and pages but you cannot lock them in the house for 20 years either, they need to know reality and know what sin is in order to avoid it, but they need to stay free from sin so have them gather with friends from Church who share the same values and beliefs. Others can keep adding and adding to this list.

    • No television, smart phones, modern music, or internet. Of course the preceding Are all for naught if the parents of the children do not live an integral and joyous traditional Catholic faith.

    • No public schools also. All it would take is one public school friend sharing what he or she found on the smart phone with the child to lead to the vice of impurity and to hell. Also, the daily family Rosary is of primary importance.

    • They need to be directed to the "Powers".  

    You get programs in the school system like "DARE" against drugs?  They give the kid the idea, just to say NO.  Well, it has been proven not to work and yet the $$ continues to go to these secular programs.

    Solution is the TRUE Sacraments for the powers to go against the world.  If they do not have the sacraments(which all have the power of the Precious Blood), Rosary is always there.

    The enemy knows where the powers are!  chapter 12 of daniel says it also.

    • No TV or unsupervised internet. No public schools. And there is a devotion that I have to guard against impurity that I recommend. Every morning and night after waking up and before going to bed pray three Hail Marys for the intention of preserving purity and after each Hail Mary pray "By the holy and immaculate conception O Mary make my body pure and my soul holy. Oh my mother preserve me this day/night from mortal sin." This devotion has helped my avoid sins of impurity since I started praying it.

    • I would highly recommend getting them the book, The Catholic Boy's Guide or the Catholic Girl's Guide by Father Lasance.  This book helped me a lot not only in regarding purity, but in many other ways too...

    When children grow to be teenagers they want to know the reasons for everything.  Don't be afraid to explain to them why they ought to dress modestly so that they can avoid near occasions of sin.  My mother had us read the book, Dressing with Dignity, when I was a teenager, and that also helped.

    Oh, and one more thing...  Good example is one of the best ways to teach children purity.  They will tend to look up to their parents and friends as examples in this.  So, be careful of their friendships, and make to have a support group for them who encourages them to dress modestly.  Kids hate to always be told what not to do.  So, when they dress or ac right, don't forget to tell them that you are grateful that they do so.  This will help cement a good connection to purity for them.

    My kids are older. I wanted to form a parent/ teen group to encourage purity. Protestants do this a lot. Catholics should be doing it since many priests I know don't seem to care.

    I agree but is is realistic. Kids see their friends watching TV wouldn't that cause them to become resentful.

    • My kids never had TV. Right from the start. If they understand the nature and reason behind the whole propaganda machine, they should not only not be resentful, but they should thank you for treating them as intelligent beings. After all, the whole appeal of TV is to promote stupidity and inanity.

    TV is all-consuming and so blocks out intelligent activity.

    I cannot recommend the above devotion by Matto promotes more above. It works.

    • If the parents indulge in impure modern tv and movies, you are wasting your time. The kids would eventually see the hypocracy.
