    FWIW, here is the translation of the Hebrew word tav. Note that it is used in the Book of Ezechias to refer to those marked by Jesus and protected from the chastisements. 

    Apocalypse 7:1-8 and 9:4 discusses this same marking of the Elect and its effects. The consequence of this mark again is protection from the coming scourges. Contrast this Mark of God with the Mark of the Beast (Apocalypse 13).

    The entire Book of the Apocalypse sets up these dichotomies: Mark of God vs. Mark of the Beast, Immaculate Bride vs. Whore of Babylon, Reward of the Elect vs. Chastisement of the Wicked.
