Whew!
Did we just plow through Christmas, Epiphany, New Births, Baptisms, Candlemas, snow and ice, and managed to keep our heads on?
We at our little Holy Souls Academy, are designating Fridays as Project Day.
And we invite the rest of CathInfo to join us and HELP US stay on track and put an END TO PROCRASTINATION!
:soapbox: :soapbox: :soapbox:
The goal is to put an end to PROCRASTINATING about those neverending laundry list of little things that have to be done around the house, or in our personal lives, that we have been saying we are going to do and never end up doing.
:geezer: :geezer: :geezer:
There is only one rule:
The Project has to be small enough (the smaller the better, remember doable) to accomplish in one day ~~~ (and in our home - without the help of Dad, he's already very busy!)
{you see, if you make it something beyond this scope, you are most likely to put it off, thus PROCRASTINATION sets in}
Here's how we are doing it:
1) We made a "To Do" list of projects we have been procrastinating about.
It can be a task - accomplishable in one step - ex. throwing out the Christmas Tree
Or a project:
a crafting project - ex. making a new set of potholders
a repair project - ex. repairing the broken slat on the porch
a chore - ex. scrubbing clean the grease off the backsplash
a lesson useful to your everyday life, something new - ex. how to make granola (so we never have to run to the store for it!)
2) We assign the task.
In our household we can assign it a variety of ways, depending on the capabilities of those involved (you can be flexible):
* boys group (I already have 2 teens)
* girls group (I already have 1 older teen)
* little children (7 & under)
* or individually
2) Plot it on your Calendar.
This is to "commit" ourselves to the project, and at the same time give us some time ahead to put together materials, or do research if needed.
Okay, whomsoever wishes to partake in our goal to end procrastination is welcome to do so.
We also invite everyone to:
> announce their projects ~ when you let someone else know you are doing it, you tend to complete it
> any hurdles they encounter ~ so we do not feel so alone in our grief or anxiety
> any advice to help the projectmaker accomplish their task ~ this would be very helpful for those who are doing projects they have never done before
> all successful and not so successful stories ~ fun and interesting reading for everyone
