EXCREMENT WAS SMEARED on the door, locks and shutters of the Youth Defence office in an attack they have described as “grotesque and vile”.
The faeces was used to stick photos and news clippings of Savita Halappanavar to the outside of the building on Capel Street in Dublin.
They say the incident, which happened late on Tuesday night, is now being investigated by the Gardaí.

Clare Molloy of Youth Defence has blamed abortion campaigners for the office attack and said they are ‘truly disgusting’ and they have now reached a new low. “This behaviour is beneath contempt, and I am saddened that such naked aggression and hatred is being displayed by abortion campaigners.”

Niamh Uí Bhriain of Life Institute said: “It’s so enormously disrespectful and insulting to Savita’s memory. How they think this will further their cause is beyond anyone’s understanding.”
However, Sarah Malone of the Abortion Rights Campaign said whoever did this had no affiliation to their group and there are better ways to get involved in the debate.
“Savita died because of the laws in this country and that needs to be highlighted but not in this way,” Malone added.
A garda spokesperson told TheJournal.ie they were investigating criminal damage at the office which happened at around 10.10pm on Tuesday night. They said they are currently going through CCTV footage for more information.
