  • The defunct Ignis Ardens forum had a very interesting December/2012 thread by member "NeelyAnn," which posted letters of varoius priests leaving the SSPX, for a variety of reasons (some of them going bacck to the early 1990's), which can still be read here:

    https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/ignis_ardens/why-do-priests-leave-the-sspx-t11560.html

Later in the thread, she posted an attempt at a comprehensive list (again, current only as of 2012) of all priests who had left the SSPX for whatever reason, in alphabetical order, which I copy/paste here (Note that this list does not include most of the priests who left or were expelled for Resistance to the 2012 sellout, nor does it include some of the more modern defections to the various dioceses, like Fr. Christophe Beaublat (India), Fr. James Doran (USA), etc.):

  • This list is not entirely accurate nor up-to-date. Example would be the claim that Guerard des Lauriers died reconciled. Also Fr. Lionel Hery is still listed as an SSPX priest by the French District.

As I stated above, the list is from 2012.

Fr. Cekada responded to the thread with the following information:

    "Neely Ann,

You've done everyone a great service by posting material here that is of considerable historical interest, but not easily available in one place.

With two exceptions, the letters confirm a suspicion I've held for years: that most priests who leave SSPX go "to the left" — that is, rather than becoming sedes, they end up in the Conciliar Church.

The list of former SSPX priests was also of great interest, but far from complete.

Somewhere in my files, I still have a list from the '80s that SSPX was compelled to give us during the lawsuits. If memory serves, about 30 of those names did not appear on the Loughlan list; they were priests from the earliest days of SSPX who were not well-known in English-speaking countries."

Mroczka, Rev. Thomas - ex SSPX; present status unknown.
    .

Fr Mroczka joined the SSPV very soon after being ordained by Archbishop Lefebvre. He is the resident priest at St. Anne's in White Bear Lake, MN.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

  • Not to nitpick, but it's spelled "Sretenovic".  Only one T.

I sent Fr Sretenovic a Mass intention just the other day for the second anniversary of my father's passing on 22 July.  Thank you, Father.

  • Missing from the list is Fr Floriano Abrahamowicz of Trieste, Veneto, in Northern Italy. He was "freelancing" when we were there in 2011. He also ministers in Bolzano, in South Tyrol and Rossana in Calabria.  He has since joined CMRI.

I suspect they confused Fr Lionel Hery with his brother, Fr Christophe Hery, who followed Fr Laguerie into the IBP.

  • The name Rev. Bolduc has a ring to it, it's like Bold Duck, and he's gone to his own pond, Gilford, New Hampshire. Pastoralitum ridicularumque vel nobis ... endeavor to persevere, nitimini perseverare.

  • Fr. Terence Finnegan is independent, but not a sede vacantist, and he is the only priest I have heard give a 1½ hour sermon that is riveting!

  • What about Fr. Joseph Pfeiffer, Fr. David Hewko, Fr. Richard Voight, (SSPX helper), Fr. Brendan Dardis (SSPS helper, actually Benedictine), Fr. François Chazal, Fr. Gerardo Zendejas, Bp. Richard Williamson, Fr. Ringrose (SSPX helper), Fr. Helmuts Libietus

Some are well known on CI and active.  Others have kind of fallen off the radar.
    Fr. now +Bp. Zendejas- Connecticut
    +Bp. Williamson- Broadstairs, Kent, England
Fr. Joseph Pfeiffer- had himself consecrated a bishop by a Thuc line Bp. Webster, by the videoed ceremony, is positively doubtful, but he’s still a valid priest.  In Boston, KY, but has gone off the rails, so to speak. Still has his “amateur exorcist” pal running (ruining) the establishment, has a “seminary.”
Fr. David Hewko- Hubbardston, MA, independent chapel in a family home, travels to a few other similar venues.
Fr. Chazal- In Philippines, I think on Leyte. Has a “micro-seminary.”  His bamboo chapel was blown to bits in a typhoon, but he’s rebuilding in the same place, only with an frame of iron!  It’s online on Odessey?
Fr. Ringrose- still in St. Athanasius, Vienna, VA
I have lost track of Frs. Dardis, Voigt, and Libietus.  The first two were not in the best of health, and Fr. Libietus May have left the SSPX prior to 2012.  Someone told me he is “a hermit priest” somewhere in Ohio?  Fr. Dardis was in Missouri in 2014, and I last heard of Fr. Voigt being near Syracuse, NY, maybe in 2014.

  • Bolduc, Rev. Hector - ex SSPX; Independent, Gilford, NH; Ordained June 1974, Fr Bolduc was subject to the suspension a divinis of May 1975 (which was never revoked!), some say expelled from the SSPX, (one of the “nine”) c. 1983/4 for, inter alia, not praying for the pope in the Mass, (another account from Louis Tofari, July 12, 2012, says he left the SSPX "for personal reasons in 1983" and is currently described by his local bishop as being “suspended” and “not authorized to exercise any priestly ministry.” Cf.

Is Fr. Bolduc the same who worked with Fr. Hesse (mentioned in his tapes)?
