  • Pope Francis urges young not to waste time on Internet and smartphones

    By Reuters

    12:58PM BST 06 Aug 2014

Pope Francis has urged 50,000 German altar servers not to waste time on the Internet, smartphones and television, but to spend their time on more productive activities.

"Maybe many young people waste too many hours on futile things," the Pope said in a short speech to the altar servers – young people who help the priest during religious services – who had come to Rome on a pilgrimage.

"Our life is made up of time, and time is a gift from God, so it is important that it be used in good and fruitful actions."

Activities cited by the Pope as futile were: "chatting on the Internet or with smartphones, watching TV soap operas, and (using) the products of technological progress, which should simplify and improve the quality of life, but distract attention away from what is really important."

The 77-year-old Pope has Twitter accounts in several languages. They were first used by his predecessor Pope Benedict in 2011, and his English language account has 4.3 million followers.

  • Because saying puppet masses, being prayed over by evangelicals and waiting for the bus are a so much more productive use of your time.

Is this guy the Pope or a Deepak Chopra wannabe?

  • Shame he didn't say "Put down your smartphone and pray your Rosary!"

  • Am I to understand that because Pope Francis advised young people to not waste their time watching television that the people here are going to start watching television?

Smartphones, television, and internet are "futile;" fag marriage and abortion are "trivial"--so are giving degenerate winos bologna sandwiches and welcoming gangs of illegal 17 year old "children" the only things Frank finds "productive?"

You guessed it!  How?  I'll never know but guess it you did.   :roll-laugh2:

I think using a smartphone and playing hackey sack is more productive and better for the soul than publicly pronouncing "There is no Catholic god."

Not all of the homeless are degenerate winos and underage children need adult supervision

Wait a minute........ when it comes to Internet and smart phones, it's N0W, this is this and that is that.......

But when it comes to perderasts and perverts, it's "Who Am I to Judge?"

"Our life is made up of time, and time is a gift from God,

Wait a minute -------- they say he mentioned GOD??

    Could this be a TYPO??

Just about every time I've heard him mention God it was to imply a denial of His existence!!   :barf:

Activities cited by the Pope as futile were: "chatting on the Internet or with smartphones, watching TV soap operas, and (using) the products of technological progress, which should simplify and improve the quality of life, but distract attention away from what is really important."

And, an example of what's really important is..........

Putting a beach ball and T-shirt from WYD on the high altar of St. Mary Major -- you know the church where you forbid Trad priests (who DO mention God) to offer the Mass of Ages, such as the age when the altar was built, using widow's mites from poor people who couldn't afford it?

    Important like that?

Or, does he mean important like making sure that a Mohammedan woman (who only mentions "Allah" -- and that's not quite the same thing as God for a Mohammedan because they say some pretty nasty stuff about The Blessed Trinity, or God, and they splash around in the blood of Christians like the Mohawks did with St. Isaac Jogues and his 7 Companions) is in the lineup with other juvenile non-Catholics when you do the Maundy Thursday Mandatum for all the world to see?

    Important like that?

Or, does he mean sticking a red clown nose on your face for the MSM to get closeups of you in front of the bride-who-couldn't-bother-to-wear-sleeves-for-a-formal-occasion and groom at whose wedding you "stuck your nose into" one fine day?

    Important like that?

Or, does he mean pulling out all the stops to make a Newcanonization ceremony for a couple of miscreants -- wooops I mean Modernists look like it's infallible or whatever?

    Important like that?

Couldn't bother to wear sleeves:  maybe the seamstress ran out of material because she needed that much for the matching bikini for the honeymoon.

    .

Well, Lady Gaga has over 41.7 million followers. Even Snoop Dogg has almost 11.5 million. HH isn't even in the top 100, worldwide.

Would you say Lady Gaga and Snoop Dogg are doing SOMETHIN' righter than Francis?

  • Am I supposed to care about this?
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)
