    I found a website http://pillarsofcatholicism.com
Do you think it's a good or a modernistic website?

  • It's a modern N/O website.  Fr. Andy whatever his last name is, graduated from a Norvus Ordo seminary in Detroit.

  • John Paul The Great University

This should be a dead give away.

His name is Fr. Andy Younan. Please show him more respect. He may have attended a NO seminary, but it is because there was no Chaldean seminary in America at the time. He is currently the rector for the Chaldean seminary my friend is now attending, and a few NO influences aside, I am told that he is very traditional and intelligent for a Chaldean priest.

However, like CathMom said, John Paul the Great should be a dead giveaway. The university seems to be strongly wrapped up in the "spirit of Vatican II". I would stay away from the program, even if Fr. Andy is a part of it.

Hold on to your ponies Alex117!  Now God knows that when I read the site where the bios were listed, that by the time I got back to Cath Info I forgot the priest's last name.  I think the lesson here is never to assume.  I would find it difficult to disrespect someone I know nothing of.

Now Fr. Younan is obviously very brave to attend any seminary around Detroit.  I'm guessing he is from around here and there are not too many Chaldeans.  Others of Middle Eastern origin do not look too kindly on Chaldeans.

It would have taken you, what, three seconds to go back to the website to remember his name? I don't want to ride you too hardly on this, as I'm sure you didn't mean any disrespect, but the man is an ordained servant of God and deserves to be referred to by his name and not as Fr. Whatever His Name Is. I think the lesson here is not on assumptions but on slothfulness.

First, remember what the bible says about judging.  There are many of us here who don't believe all ordinations are valid if they are of the new Rite.  So you say he is an ordained servant of God, I say, I need more information.  Name of the bishop who ordained Fr. Younan and who ordained that bishop and when. And again I ask, what Rite was used?

You accuse me of slothfulness. I could accuse you of being uncharitable, but I won't since it is a problem I struggle with myself.

May God Bless and Keep you.

Good Lord, why do I even bother? So you're saying that until you have the name of the Bishop who ordained the priest, when he was ordained, and what Rite was used to ordain him, you're going to treat all priests like plebs and not show them their due respect?

Perhaps this is not a lesson on slothfulness after all, but on pride.

Chalk it up to the sign of the times.  If I'm going to receive the sacraments, I want valid sacraments from a validly ordained priest or bishop.  If I wanted sacraments from just any one who was ordained, I could walk three blocks to get them instead of driving 70 miles round trip to receive them.

Also, my mother taught me better, I treat everyone with respect.  If I don't, I don't doubt that the God Lord would let my mother come back this valley of tears long enough to slap me upside the head!

Might one ask, where do you attend church?
