Praying for your home country and its leaders has a long tradition in the Faith. There isn't anything wrong with praying for the holiness of your homeland.
No, there isn't anything wrong with it, but you must understand that when I say I don't "pray for America", I mean that I do not pray this "g-d bless America" generic spiritualist nonsense that passes for prayer in many religions these days.
I pray for America and its leaders the way I pray for everyone and everything else: that it and they would come willfully under the Authority of Jesus Christ and His Church, that they would do penance for their innumerable sins and that they would abandon all of the ideologies of their "founding fathers" that were in total opposition to Christ and His Apostles.
Praying for the holiness of America would be like praying for the moon to be made of green cheese or for my neighbor's dog to begin printing money in their backyard. America need REPENTANCE, LONG before she even begins to imagine anything approaching holiness.
We have to be careful that we don't fall into the protestant error of talking as though 'holiness' were this static, unchanging condition that is imputed to people based on mere acceptance of belief. No, rather, according to Holy Church, indeed, according to Christ and His Apostles, holiness is IMPARTED, meaning GIVEN ACTIVELY TO, members of His Church, and is MAINTAINED and INCREASED by faithful reception of the Sacraments and continuance in the state of grace.
I will pray for the holiness of ANYONE or ANY nation that swears unalloyed fealty to Our Lord, His Church and Our Lady, but not for those who are willingly and stubbornly pagan or apostate.
Besides, the 'luminious' so-called mysteries are spurious, unnecessary and contrary to what has been handed down to the Church through holy St. Dominic.
