It was 8 years ago, our granddaughter was taken to Thunderbird Hospital, Phx area. Reason, X-rays needed to see why at age 11 months, she was not crawling. She had what was known as legs that get between the bars of the baby bed and one of your legs was bent. It takes a lot to break a bone of an infant. Both parents and grand parents were at the hospital at 2 am. I asked to see the X-rays. No hairline break and the lady on the floor who worked for CPS told us it was a break.
She said the child could not go home with the parents. I was in shock as grandma and I told the lady, I don't believe you are telling us what to do. Then I said, she goes home with us and for you, you best not get between my daughter and my son-in-law. The CPS followed us home and checked out the place to come and go. (We have many statues of Christ mother and saints.)
Then our daughter and son-in-law were met by a police to check their home! The police was kind enough to say, he knew what was going on and he was not going to come in their home.
(our whole family are medical in our jobs)
Next day, our daughter was having a hard time getting an appt. with doctor in Scottsdale. I told her, when you call, hit the button that says you are a doctor calling in. She got the appt. and we gave our grand daughter back to her parents. The doctor was furious with CPS. He said, I have had it up to here with this garbage going on.
I found out over a course of a 6 month period that CPS was given 8 beds at all hospitals for foster care children. IF they are filled, then $$$, if not filled well you figure. Parents are afraid to take their children to ER. Rightly so. I was told by 2 RN's that they left their jobs for just these reasons, and they went else where for jobs.
I asked, if this was to happen again, how do we manage it. Tell them if they think they are going to take your child, you will see them in court.
