Most undisciplined youths these days also happen to be into video games. Video games are exciting, addictive, etc. and so unless you have self-discipline, they will control you just like crack or alcohol.
Some people can use alcohol with moderation too -- good for them. But that doesn't change the fact that alcohol is addictive, and weak men and women will lose control, becoming "used" by the substance rather than the other way around.
It actually takes an enormous amount of self control to regulate one's use of video games -- especially when you're talking about multi-player, which have a social, always-there element to them. 1-player video games aren't very addictive at all by comparison.
And when I say "video games are bad" I'm mostly referring to the online, compete-with-the-real-world variety. Those are the worst. Those are the ones that cause Asians to spend 2 days at an Internet cafe with only a pack or two of Ramen noodles and a few energy drinks to keep them going.
