Title: Painting outdoor statues

Any tips.  What kind of paint?

If it originally had an oil based paint on it then, you would want to stick with that type to prevent premature peeling. Otherwise latex or acryilic will do fine.
Just a word, unless you are artistically inclined, and can paint facial and other features reasonably well (eyes, eybrows, lips, etc. can be tough to get right), then paint the statue all one solid color, preferably white. You can't go wrong with a white statue.

My is painted with car paint from our local automotive store.  Still looks great after 15 years and counting.

Just use the car paint directly?  Or primer first?
Air dry is fine?
Sealant?
