Do you have anything on this subject regarding men? I notice that many secular men wear earrings, not spacers, but studs/sleepers etc. Also what about tattoos?
I haven't been able to find standards for men's modesty, other than things like the general teachings of St. Paul and St. Thomas Aquinas. Regarding tattoos, I believe that was always considered by the Church as self-mutilation which is forbidden by the 5th Commandment. As for piercings, I believe those were introduced for men, in order to feminize them. When in doubt, try to find who began a certain fashion trend, and when; the source is always revealing.
Modesty is somewhat different for men since their figure is not as "alluring", shall we say, or suggestive of procreation, hence women do have to cover up more, in general (ex. men can wear pants without sin, but women cannot).
The basic principles behind modesty is that one should seek to conceal, rather than reveal, the figure.
