  • Is it appropriate to take children to an opera with adult themes like Rigolleto or The Marriage of Figaro?

    Depends if they understand it.

I was watching Die Fledermaus and I'm thinking it's not morally acceptable.

    There would be English sur-titles.

Also, I wouldn't be sure how graphic/modest the acting would be. Would you recommend I go see it first to preview the content?

Wouldn't it be great to know which operas st Alphonsus attended? He never commited a venial sin so he couldn't have been affected by whatever he went to listen to. The opera of his time also had "adult" themes.

  • How do you know St. Alphonsus never committed a venial sin?

I am not being contentious here.  i have simply never heard that.

Wouldn't that make him like the Virgin Mary, only with Original Sin?

I read in a book. Now that you ask, it might have just said that he preserved his baptismal innocence, but I'm still inclined to believe that he never committed a venial sin.
