No doubt most of you have already seen this Open Letter from Bishop McKenna:

Clearly the bishop has humility.

No, I have not seen it.

It hits close to home, as I attended Fr. Slupski's Mass every Sunday -- often many times a week -- from 1978 to 2000. I was there when he announced he had been consecrated a bishop.

My mom and siblings still attend Mass at the chapel where he is.

I never heard of Bp. Slupski so I ask in total ignorance:

Does anyone have an idea why Bp. McKenna might now repent of having consecrated him?

I don't know much about who Bp. Slupski ordained -- just two cases that he told me about.

He ordained one older man, who apparently wanted the whole "collection" for himself, having promised to pay a cleaning service to clean the small chapel once a month. I believe Bp. Slupski had an agreement with him BEFORE his ordination that he could say Mass only privately. I don't know the priest's name, though.

I also know of a married man that he ordained a permanent deacon. I've seen the man once or twice in an SSPX context -- and let's just say it wasn't preaching, distributing communion, or serving as deacon during Mass. I personally doubt he would go out of his way to mention his Orders, as the SSPX probably wouldn't be too fond of the idea.

I believe that any mistakes Fr. Slupski made can be excused when considering how long he's been fighting the good fight -- he was ordained in 1961 as a Redemptorist in Poland, he knows Communism first-hand, and has been very alone since he stopped working with the SSPX in the 1980's. Being alone for that long is not a good thing. He doesn't see or hear all the wonderful things the SSPX (and other groups) are doing on a daily basis. He doesn't use the Internet, etc. He's very isolated.

Any ordinations/consecrations he has performed were probably done with an upright will on his part. He's desperately trying to provide for the Church after he passes away.

I suppose my point in all this is that he needs our prayers. We are all muddling along trying to find our way in this Crisis -- some are generous and want to do as much for God as they can. We all make mistakes, even when we're trying to do good. The traditionalist world is filled with examples of this.

P.S. You've probably never heard of him because he keeps a very low profile. He doesn't even go by Bp. Slupski. He said we can still call him "Fr. Frank".

And he doesn't go by his first name in a Vatican II "Fr. Bob" kind of way -- no, it's because there are more "Franks" than "Slupskis" and -- as I said earlier -- he is VERY accustomed to life in a communist country.

He has learned the benefits of keeping a low profile.

Amen, amen! KO the herdsman, and the sheep head for the hills. Very true.

It's scary to be a sheep without an earthly shepherd. It's a good thing that the Shepherd of Shepherds "will be with [us] always, even to the end of time."

I have known several survivors of Eastern European Communism. All of them walk the line between "prudent" and "paranoid." The fruits of a Godless system.

No doubt I have Myrna. This is a wonderful example of the humility of Bishop McKenna. It was good of you to post this to prove that as Matthew said these men are human and need our prayers now more so than ever. It is a sad thing indeed that they have to worry about battles with heretics and apostates as always, but the most dangerous creature is the snake that pretends to be a Traditional Catholic all the while stirring up trouble for them.

This seems to be one of the sore spots: Randell Stocks, a.k.a. Ryan St. Anne Scott, I don't know any thing about this person, and maybe that is a good thing.

Thanks for the link, I received it through email from a reliable source.

Matthew, please ask "Fr. Frank" as you call him, about the papers he showed Bishop Vezelis in the early 80's... this was also talked about in the Seraph but I don't believe you read the Seraph. Plus it's better to get it directly from him anyway.

They think they are the only Catholic clergy in the USA.

From what obediens has posted here, clearly he/she agrees with them. Obediens is here to promote them.

I remember reading about this Ryan Scott several years ago so I can't recall the details but this man is bad news all the way around.

Matthew, that is the best thing you have ever written -- and the truest.

If he is isolated, it is for a reason.  Maybe that is the only way he knows how to survive in order to keep his sanity intact.

Strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered.  What a mess everything is.
