Product Description

Father Bascio presents a strikingly different perspective on illegal immigration from that of most Christian clergymen. He turns his spotlight on the harm of officially tolerated illegal immigration to America's own struggling workers in the form of joblessness, shrinking wages and poorer working conditions. African-American workers, already plagued by job discrimination, bear the heaviest burden of the illegal invasion, which locks them out of many workplaces or drives wages below acceptable levels. The chronic non-enforcement of immigration laws is no accident: Congress has little stomach for ending something so profitable for their most powerful donors and the voters they can muster. The author fears that many committed Christians are blinded to these abuses by their church leaders' preoccupation with charity toward illegal aliens, while ignoring the plight of millions of low-wage Americans. He deftly rebuts the self-serving myth of employers' and politicians' that illegals "do jobs Americans won't do." Bascio also sees the profit motive behind legal immigration policies that lure the third world's best and brightest to America, stripping poorer nations of their physicians, teachers and scientists. As a Catholic priest, the author admits the unpleasantness of taking a position not shared by his Church's hierarchy, which is driven by the prospect of rising membership. Bascio sees unchecked illegal immigration as having grave consequences for overall U.S. tranquility: disdain for the rule of law, street gangs, docuмent fraud and identity theft, staggering welfare and education costs and creeping "Balkanization" that threatens the national principle of E Pluribus Unum. Father Bascio's book is a resounding appeal to Christians to re-examine their churches' conventional view of illegal immigration and consider the hardship it brings for fellow Americans and its dangers for the nation as a whole.

According to many posters on fisheaters, stopping illegal immigration and enforcing the law is akin to mortal sin and will send you to hell.

not to say we do not either, but these are people somehow superior to us to people liek this guy and most of hieracy.....

also, they give very little in $$ to churches......but take a lot......

also, they have to solve their nations problems in nation......not relocating by the millions.......

cannot blame them with no work, crushing starvatio nand poverty, but in the end, it is a cutlure clash that hurts both sides and again, never solves the problems in their nations...

Most of the illegal immigrants are as truly Catholic as my Jєωιѕн parents. That argument does not hold any water.

exactly, but seeing the crappy society we havein USA, former freind went, as he was prone to do, to extremes-put them on a pedastal, whitewashing or ignoring any negative aspects.....his answer was "Well, blacks and whites do this too" attitude.a real deep seated angst against his own, white western Europeans...

he flat out refused to even consider dating a white woman, always found an excuse or had response like "well, she is likely some feminist Oprah watcher" sort of thing...

tended to whig out of a negative comment or discussion was raised against Hispanics.....

Most of the hispanic immigrant women illegal or legal that I have met have been just as immoral as any american women. That is another grossly false belief.

He should be careful with that as many foreign woman marry american men to get a green card, a child, and 18 years of child support while the man ends up living in a dumpster. I have seen the above scenario far to often as I live between two military bases.

We cant keep out illegals! After all, who would we send to go fight in Iraq and Afghanistan?  :surprised:

Half joking, but we really do recruit a good lot of immigrants for the military. My cousin (Hispanic btw) went to go enlist in the army in 04 and got rejected because he had a record...however.... all the illegal Mexican immigrants who were waiting in line behind him all got accepted and they were all told that they would get green-cards when their term of service was up. But of course this is nothing new. We did the same thing in WWII with the Germans. At this point the illegals are the Fed's cannon fodder.

Hallo, again, Mr Belloc!

I think we both know that the poor are going to get their heads bashed in this horrible un-Christian form of society whether they are illegal or not. They will all end up fighting each other to make a profit for someone who couldn´t care a damn where they come from, whether old cultures are permanently eroded, as long as they can exploit them. If they manage to destroy the last vestiges of morality and decency in the process, all well and good. That helps them even more, I think!

If we had a Catholic economy this wouldn´t happen.

You have illegals and we have Western Europe legally flooded with the poor of Eastern Europe who work for a fraction of the wages of natives. It is also true that Catholic culture in those countries doesn´t seem to be so very strong as to be a political force and certainly doesn´t seem to travel well.

Yes, indeed.

The gates of Vienna are now wide open!

The thing that gives me a chill is that the Catholic school in my small suburban home town in England has now been turned into a Moslem centre. They wanted to knock it down and build a large mosque with minarets. There is a protest going on but not because the number of practising Catholics has become so low that they had to sell the Catholic school, but because the building is a listed historic one.

The same all over Europe.....crucifixes come down....minarets go up.

Western Europe seems to be committing ѕυιcιdє.........and we all know why!

Noescuм Max Boot thinks its great to allow illegals citizenship if they fight and serve, esp on our streets as they have no loyalty to us....anyone see a parallel say, like the end of the Roman Empire, whenillegals flooded and served in the military, turning their weapons against the populace??

It wont be as bad in Spain as it will be in the rest of Europe.

Minarets match our scenery and make great bell towers (once they are ours) and as it is said in our land...

The more Moors, the more loot.

Here is a good blog entry on this subject from a Traditional(I think) Catholic lady:

Illegal Immigrants: The Saviors of American Catholicism?

Have you ever heard this view expressed? Been criticized for opposing people who break the immigration laws in this country? The liberals tell us we are

1. racist
2. elitist
3. lacking compassion
4. cheap

because we are not overjoyed at more and more illegal immigrants crossing the Mexican-U.S. border to enjoy our standard of living at our growing expense. According to this article 56% of illegal immigrants are Mexican and an additional 22% are from other Latin American countries. This means that 78% of illegal immigrants are Hispanic.

But we never listen to the liberals anyway.

What gets me is when "Catholics" or "Conservatives" play the religion card. Opposing illegal immigration is really evidence of anti-Catholicism because Mexicans are such good, devout Catholics. They are so prolife. They are family oriented. They may be. I hope they are, but they are still here illegally and therefore are criminals and should return to their own country and apply to come here legally. (like my husband did). But he's a lawabiding citizen so I guess that makes him the exception.

I have long contended that while not condemning all illegals, the facts are that they bring a huge amount of drug trafficking, prostitution, gambling, promiscuity and illegitimate births with them. They are here criminally so what is to stop them from continuing in their illegal activity? Certainly not the law enforcement in this country. That is not even mentioning the diseases for which they are not screened or vaccinated again.

I have seen anecdotally the huge number of out of wedlock births- well there is an incentive- your child becomes an American citizen. What a great policy move that was! Talk about converting a child into a meal ticket! or passport!

But while reading an article about the beautiful and lovely tradition of the Quincera, a coming of age rite for Hispanic young ladies I saw this statistic:

Although teen pregnancy rates have generally been in decline across ethnic lines over the last 15 years, 51 percent of Hispanic teens get pregnant before age 20, according to the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy.

Think of that for a moment- 51% of Hispanic teens become pregnant before the age of 20!

That's Catholic morality? Devout piety? It's cultural madness.
