St. Stanislaus is the Polish section of the cemetery where my parents and many friends of old are buried. St, Hedwig or JAdwiga in Polish=mom's name
    I almost learned the accordion!
No light beer or cigs in our house. Pilsner, rye, vodka and dad's friend's who smoked like chimneys.
No bar was there but still lots of assorted alcohol with fancy glasses

To add, you know most if not all, at least one verse, of Polish koledy (Christmas carols)

Good memories, very good memories. Sigh. Best days are far behind. Only Heaven shall best them.
Da pacem Domine in diebus nostris
    Qui non est alius
    Qui pugnet pro nobis
    Nisi  tu Deus noster

  • And paska and a Baranka at Easter.
Paska is a round sweet bread with raisins
Baranka is the Lamb carved from a pound of butter.

And on New Year's day, children would go to aunts and uncles houses and throw rice wishing them blessings for the coming year.  And in return they received a handful of coins.
