One of my favorite tooth-gnashing topics, JP2 and the VooDoo is in the news again. This illustrates the diabolic influence of JP2 having given devil worshippers the "go ahead".

And it is about music which integrates VooDoo music[sic] into Gregorian Chant. The Vatican has collected the work of some VooDoo scholar. Syncretism is horrifying.

Read some of the comments . This was put out in 1954. As usual, Catholics still are shooting at the VII straw man.

Belloc, I agree with you.

If I have understood it correctly, the particular sorts of modernist errors that burst in the Council in the 1960s had been brewing up in Germany for at least 50 years before then. The Liberals in Germany were very strong and hijacked the Council. John XXIII was a simple and trusting man and didn´t realise, I feel, what he was seeting free. The genie from the bottle. When he realised, he was horrified. Paul VI was a man suffering from severe emotional and mental problems, I think, and had not the strength to resist. He did in some ways, like "Humanae Vita"
His successor was aware of the extent of the damage and tried to enforce orthodoxy but had also had a horror of schism.
Am I right?
I think all this liberal madness is just an episode like many others. Satan has tried again and again to destroy the Church through heresies.
But things are gradually beginning to return to sanity. It is a great testing time.

3. Invictus Maneo: The Mass which used music that incorporated elements of voodoo music with Gregorian chant was held before Vatican II. The Mass was to commemorate the founding of Haiti in 1804, on the sesquicentennial anniversary. That's 150 years. So, the Mass was 150 years after 1804, which would be 1954.
You're taking a cheap and misinformed crack at Vatican II.

5. NO this is not going to happen
Traditional mass will always be here. The Vatican will not allow Satan's worshipers to enter into this Holy House of God! I am sorry and if they do, how dare they? I am a devout Catholic and I have never EVER seen anything so sick in my life!

6. Invictus: The work was composed between 1947 and 1953. It was proposed for performance in the cathedral in 1954, but permission was withheld (for obvious reasons).

7. Some people seem to be under the impression that inclusion of a paper in the historical collection of the Vatican Library, is some sort of Church endorsement of its contents or even a recommendation that the musical score it is describing should be used as the basis for liturgies.
The Times and Democrat does not say that Grenier's paper approves of the concept of incorporating voodoo in a Mass. Apparently his article is purely descriptive history. Apparently the library sees the value in having a record of a description of one of the weird things composers did in the 20th century.
