  • NFL will play black national anthem prior to Week 1 games, report says
League will play “Lift Ev’ry Voice And Sing” before season openers

The NFL will reportedly play “Lift Ev’ry Voice And Sing,” which is also known as the black national anthem, before every Week 1 NFL game in the 2020 season, according to ESPN.

The decision to play the song comes following the death of Minneapolis man George Floyd, which led to nationwide protests over racial inequality and police brutality.
According to the ESPN report, the song will be played before “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Many players have been vocal about their stance on this topic. Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, and Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield already have said that they will kneel for the national anthem.
The league and the NFL Players Association are also contemplating listing the names of victims on uniforms through decals on helmets or patches on jerseys, ESPN reported. The NFL also may produce educational programs about victims. They also have other plans that haven’t been identified.
The league hopes it demonstrates “a genuine commitment to the public, players and coaches and that player voices continue to be heard,” according to ESPN’s source.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell put out a video last month admitting that the league was wrong for not listening to their players when they knelt during the national anthem to protest racial injustice and police brutality.
"We, at the National Football League, believe Black Lives Matter," Goodell said in the video. "I personally protest with you and want to be part of the much-needed change in this country.
“Without black players, there would be no National Football League and the protests around the country are emblematic of the centuries of silence, inequality, and oppression of black players, coaches, fans, and staff. We are listening, I am listening, and I will be reaching out to players who have raised their voices and others on how we can improve and go forward for a better and more united NFL family.”

Without black players, there would be no National Football League
There was an all  white  NFL long before they allowed blacks to play. Without white money there would be no NFL to play in today.

I've had enough of politicizing the game of football, I will stick to watching highlights on Mondays (its quick, and no commercials!), if that.  They'll make no money on me. Not that they ever have, since I have not been to a paid stadium game since like 1990.

  • Football on Sunday should have been a red flag years ago.  Nowadays, many of these men who play for NFL have been arrested many times including abuse of women and even animals.  Super bowl filled with sex trafficking and erotic pornographic communist half time shows.
May God bless you and keep you

That would be the Trump-supporting black anthem.

Yes, Reparations Happy Hours will be in full effect. Patrons may choose between Colt 45, Olde English 800, Night Train Express, Welch's Strawberry Soda, Blue Tropical Fantasy, or Purple Drank.

Poche is already burning as much cork as he can get his hands on in hopes of being able to get in on it.

You forgot Tahitian Treat and Kool-Aid.

In all fairness, both of these are fairly tasty beverages, if you like that kind of thing.  TT is a little sweeter version of Hawaiian Punch.

I try to stay away from high fructose corn syrup, and in fact got a bottle of Trader Joe's maple syrup the other day... to put on my Aunt Jemima waffles.

As of late my beverage of choice has been homemade cold-brewed iced tea made with generic Splenda.  I keep two pitchers in my refrigerator.  It's a Southern thing.

I used to brew a very potent beer that was somewhat like malt liquor.  It had a kick to it!

Some years back, to help wean myself off a decades-long addiction to Coca-Cola, I took to drinking unsweetened iced tea with lemon, and unsweetened iced coffee with a little milk. Now, I find these latter two drinks to be about the most refreshing things on God's earth. I do occasionally relapse into my former "Coke addiction," but, when I do, I try to make sure it's at least the vastly superior Mexican version, in the glass bottle, and sweetened with cane sugar, and not that vile, diabolically ubiquitous goop, HFCS.

Your home-brewed beer sounds particularly intriguing. Must be good at a barbecue. Nothing washes beef down better than beer, in my opinion.

  • Btw, what the hell ever happened to "AFrican-American"? Isn't that what they wanted to be called these days?

We never had "soda" in the house growing up, my father despised it and knew it was junk sugar-water. I seen a lot of my friends literally become "addicts" that that crap. Even my sister's children went on to become , what I called "coke-heads". and they were all obese, tooth decay and all kinds of mental, emotional and social problems as well. And here's the thing, they really don't drink alcohol or take any drugs. But their sugar diets really screwed them up. they had a coke-bottle in their hand everytime I seen them. It is truly their "drug" of choice.

As for me and my family, I never allowed it either and NONE of my children ever developed a taste or craving for it.

I believe that perhaps after coffee and cigarettes, carbonated, sugar beverages like "coke" are the biggest addiction in America. they might actually be first for all I know, at lot of people don't smoke these days. And I see a lot of kids and younger generation don't drink coffee.
