I had the same problem a long time ago, I was tilting my head up and down so much that by the end of the day the back of my neck got really sore from bobble heading all day. I solved that by getting bigger (taller) lenses, and also I had to tell them that as they were measuring, to put my pupils are on the lens a little lower, maybe 1/16th of an inch or so lower on the lens than it actually is. So when I look forward I see distance clear and I *have* to tip my head up for reading, but at least I'm not bobble heading any more.
For the computer, I keep my main screen, which is 24", about 30 inches away so I had them make me a separate pair, also progressive, which is about 1/2 the prescription strength and it works ok but not perfect - for the last year or so I've been using a 5 year old pair of glasses I had, also progressive, and that's what works for me. If you're strictly using the laptop, then cheaters from the drug store are probably a good way to go, you just need to experiment which strength.
