I called out this man several years ago (and got banned from a community Facebook group of a very small town, Marion, TX) for advertising meat specials on Fridays of Lent.

The man is Hispanic; he should know better! He has to know that promoting meat (not just selling it) on Friday is offensive to Catholics.

I mean, even if you gave up on Friday abstinence yourself, if you have ANY respect for God and/or your culture, you would have some respect. But he didn't. He had completely cast off the yoke, as it were. Apparently he's a full-fledged "son of belial" as Scripture calls it.

His parents, much less his abuelos y abuelas, must be turning over in their graves at this apostate. You can't scratch the surface very deep in a Hispanic without hitting Catholicism.

Leaving the Catholic Faith behind you is NOT a recipe for happiness in this life -- or in the next.

It’s my understanding that all hispanic countries are exempt from the Friday abstinence due to the dispensation given by Pope Saint Pius V for the Spanish victory of the battle of Lepanto. Obviously he’s not a good person and I’m happy they caught him, but it’s very possible that he was unaware of the Friday abstinence (because of the above) and even if was aware, the NO church doesn’t strictly enforce that policy. Pardon the pun, but there are way bigger fish to fry :laugh1: than calling him out on meat specials.

I've never heard about that "indult". Do you have any reference for this?

Nevertheless, a man who can't give up a hamburger on Friday might not be a pedophile *yet*, but he's on the wrong road, let's put it that way.

If you can't mortify yourself AT ALL, you're just going to plunge deeper and deeper into depravity. And let's face it: giving up meat on Friday is NOT that big of a deal. It's one of the smallest "little things" you can imagine. How can you do great things, when you can't even do the smallest things?

If you can't say no to yourself, to the point you can't give up meat on Friday, the devil pretty much has you. Specifically, the devil knows that "the flesh" is his key to getting you into hell. Super easy; barely an inconvenience!

It is different for a Hispanic to throw away his Catholicism compared to a Japanese person, regardless never trust anyone who has thrown away their religion. There is never an excuse. Once you get into supplementing it with non-denominational, baptist, that is even worse.
