    • One thing to consider. Demons.  My brand new Honda 2005, was blessed by Fr. Leblanc.  When I drove out to be his cook months later Fr. LeBlanc saw  a demon on my car.  Fr. Le Blanc said he blessed my car again.

    You just never know. Another strategy of demons is to have a driver day dream.  The demons are very thick!.  Even Christ had Lucifer tempt him.  We need compassion for everyone!  IMO the demons are very close to the end of their 100 years, and they know their time is short.  Have compassion for we all need prayers.

    Before Vatican II, there were Masses all over which you could walk to and at varying time throughout the whole morning.  Having a longer distance to travel and Masses not offered as frequently makes our situation different from the pre-Vatican II times.

    As I do not currently have a nursing baby, my husband and I take turns with the youngest toddler and take him out whenever he is making noise or being too rambunctious.  

    Also important to remember is that every child is different.   Our oldest son was only able to sit quietly through Mass after turning 5 years old.  Our second son was almost always able to sit quietly for Mass.

    I know it’s not the best but, have you ever considered pumping? You can easily pump for 1-2 feedings, at least it would allow you to not have to take the baby. We’ve done it before. It would be one day a week only.

    We have tried it in the past but it has never worked well for us.  I could tell horror stories of mastitis and thrush infections for the baby and me with trying... 

    Some people have a hard time nursing, others have a hard time with pumping.

    I had trouble breastfeeding in the beginning so was pumping. I did pump and went to mass (at the time I was going to the NO which was a 45 min drive) and give my husband the milk to feed the baby but it wasn't enough. And I gradually got rid of the pump and able to nurse. My milk supply was way better. The way pumping works and actual nursing is different. The baby actually makes the milk come not really the pump. The amount of time pumping takes, you might as well nurse. I hated cleaning the bottles and pump. 

    Besides, babies and mothers have a strong connection, it's natural for them to be together. Nursing like a pacifier soothes the baby and the baby will stay quiet during mass. That is if you are nursing before or after mass or stepping out to do it. 

    Also, I wanted to mention, if children are being homeschooled, then church is going to be one of their few options to socialize with other children.

    • It seems like this subject of babies/children at Mass comes up regularly. I will say that some parents could/should do a better job of taking their noisy one(s) out, especially during the sermon and Consecration.

    But maybe another consideration could be added to what has been said: every one of us was a baby at one time, and doubtless were fussy and distracting at times, so, when you can't tune it out, just figure that you're getting a little of your own back and offer it up.
