  • Hi everyone.  I hope it’s been a good Sunday for all.

It looks like my husband I will be separating and that I will be returning soon to Louisiana to live.  While in South Carolina I have been attending a Latin Mass.  The only Catholic Church in Lafayette that is traditional is Christ the King church.  Can anyone give me some info on it?  I had attended a couple of Masses there many, many years ago.  I know the church has moved.  I’ve checked their website but they haven’t published bulletins in years.  Will they frown upon me for being separated?

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

According to this directory, they are still at that location, and the contact info is the same as on their website:

    Lux Vera USA Directory

I would call Fr Francis Miller at (337) 261-1225

According to the directory, there are other options in LA as well.  You could inquire about those.  Also, you could contact the person who updates the directory.

So sorry to year that you weren't able to save your marriage and have to seperate...   I have been wondering how you were doing...  😣 🙏

I think I have a friend in FL who goes there occasionally.  Let me ask her if she knows anything.

My friend responded rather quickly and here is the information which she gave me when I asked about Christ the King Chapel and if it was run by Father Francis Miller.

I will also attach a recent bulletin which she sent me.

"Yes. That's his main chapel where he also is assisted by Fr. Giles Pardue and Fr. Bonaventure Robison (may have spelled his name wrong). But I also believe there is an Easter Rite Melkite outreach near that area, as well.

For your friend, the only thing I would advise is that there is a lot of gossip about Fr. Francis Miller on the internet one can be easily influenced one way, but the sacraments are valid."

Thanks for the info!!  That’s interesting.  I haven’t really found any gossip about him online other than a blog post on this site that’s been removed.  So, I have no idea what the blog had to say about him.

Was your friend able to get the bulletin online or had she gotten it at church?

I think that you have to subscribe or get on their email list to get the current bulletins:

    https://ctkinglafayette.com/ministry/ctk-bulletin/

They also have a Mass streaming page on facebook:

    https://www.facebook.com/TradLatinMass

Hope this will be at least enough information to get you what you need.

If you have more questions, I would suggest contacting Father Miller directly.  His contact number and email are on the website.

Thanks!  I have been watching the Mass on FB.  But, I don't think their site is working with regard to signing up for bulletins and other things other than donations.

Oh!  Sorry the site isn't working.  Maybe you just have to email them directly to get on the list now?

Maintaining a website can be difficult. Hope things work out for you.  🥰🙏

I'm not sure what that person is referring to either, but Fr Francis Miller gives a firsthand/eyewitness account of what happened with/to Archbishop Thuc in his last years/days.  I suspect any "gossip" is provided by the anti-Thuc crowd.

  • There is also St. Philomena Chapel in Morse, LA.  It is staffed by Fr. Christopher Spray and Fr. Matias Chimenton.

Interesting. Are the clergy mentioned on the website, or do you have to call.

    Taylor died in 2018.

Fr. Spray was conditionally ordained by Bp. Thomas Huber and works with Bps. Huber and da Silva.

He does not recommend anyone to get involved in Taylor or other "Datessen" line clergy unless they have been conditionally ordained.

Good to know!  Thank you for sharing this information.  Bishop de Silva as in the one consecrated by Bishop Dolan? :cowboy:
