  • Question for the women out there who don't sew all their own clothes:

Anyone know what stores a women can find nice looking maxi skirts and business attire?  I'm talking about brick-and-mortar stores rather than online stores.  Any information would be appreciated.

  • Dress Barn, Boscovs and Walmart.

Blair has a mail catalogue with nice outfits and skirts.  It is pretty reasonable too.
May God bless you and keep you

  • I gave up wearing pants 5 years ago, and perhaps once or twice in that time have I ever found modest clothing in a store, other than a thrift store, and even there very rarely. And mine is not an unusual size.

Ninety percent of my clothes were ordered online or donated to me as hand-me-downs.

Mother of God, pray for us sinners.

  • I just love my thrift stores, here in the Phoenix area!  $1 for any apparel: Cabin Creek, Bon Worth, Alfred Dunn, Dockers and more for men.

  • Second hand shops (op-shops) have far more variety, value and choice that many women's clothing shops. I hardly ever buy new, even for important occasions like Mother of the Bride/Groom.

  • With a little creativity, modest dresses can be purchased from most stores out there.

  • In the midwest I've had luck with Kohl's for long skirts and maxi-dresses.  Often the dresses are sleeveless themselves but can be topped with a nice jacket or a cardigan sweater for modesty.  The store offers additional percent off discounts too, which can be added to clearance purchases.  Depending on the size jacket needed, there are always decent and affordable ones on the clearance racks, suitable for business attire. Helps to shop off-season to get the best deal.  Right now the longer style skirts are popular, so many are available.  Just be sure to avoid the nasty, clingy fabrics, which are not flattering on anyone.

  • As long as you match the average height / weight for the American woman: 5'4" and 150 pounds (or more), you shouldn't have any issues finding clothes that you can work with to achieve modesty.  If you are thinner than that, you might have issues with clothes fitting in the misses dept and really inappropriate clothes in the jr 's dept.
