Title: Modern graphics worse than 1990s
Post by: Matthew on October 09, 2025, 06:51:25 PM
Every web designer will tell you the ultra minimalist look is "modern" and therefore "better", or the thing to go with.

But just look at where we've been, and where we are today.

Look at the minimalist garbage from Facebook (circa Oct 2025). I can barely tell what those icons even are.

Then look at Windows Vista (Aero theme) circa 2004. The icons are full color, high detail, very realistic, with shadows and sometimes a 3D look. I think *that* is modern and futuristic, objectively speaking. It takes more processing power, RAM, etc. to achieve that.

Today, with gigabytes of RAM, multi-core CPUs, we have graphics that are objectively worse than what Apple put out in the mid-1980's. Give me a break!

It is said that Steve Jobs would spend time in nature to come up with ideas to make his products and the fonts/icons pleasing to look at to compete with the competition.
