  • Since wearing my miraculous medal and brown scapular, I don't need any secular Jєωelry.
I'm dressing with modesty too.  My husband gave me my miraculous medal before we became tradcats.

However, when I watch EWTN, I see Catholic women wearing costume Jєωelry and hosting shows. Many woman are watching these programs.
Should we mail them brown scapular, miraculous medal, crucifix?

Why are Catholics afraid of being Catholic?

May God bless you and keep you

  • I stopped watching EWTN when I left the Novus Ordo.
    Got rid of cable, too.
It would be helpful to spend more time with spiritual reading and praying.

BTW, it is wonderful that you are wearing the Miraculous Medal and brown Scapular.
Lots of graces to be had.

    God bless,
    Renee

  • Before I was married, I never had cable.    If it wasn't for my husband, I would get rid of it all.

May God bless you and keep you

  • I think of a scapular as a garment rather than as Jєωelry.  I have heard that is what it developed from historically.

The point of most of these shows is to attract people to their version of Catholicism. They don't need to attract those who are already on their side. They want to attract worldlings. Worldlings are not swayed and convinced by a bunch of frumpy moms in jumpers with their scapular hanging out and a Miraculous Medal the size of a hand.

I'm the last person to defend EWTN, but how do you know they don't wear a scapular, crucifix, or medal under their clothing? Did you check? That seems presumptuous.

I always wear a scapular but not always medals, due to breaking and losing them. I don't wear a crucifix because most of them are so badly made that I don't feel they honor Our Lord. I also wear costume Jєωelry for special occasions where it is my state in life to do so. I don't prefer it, but I know that it is expected and I want to show people that I am dressing my best for their event. Proper decorum is also modest. Throwing your religiosity in someone's face and thinking yourself better, is not modest.

Lastly, it is not a sin to wear Jєωelry. It isn't just or charitable to make it sound like it is. I'm saying this as the frumpy mom in the jumper that always looks terrible.

  • I don't think I'm better then any one else.  By wearing our miraculous medals, scapulars it brings others to the faith.  For example.  Last week I was wearing an old scapular in the pool.  An older woman noticed it and we started talking about it.  She was wearing the most beautiful crucifix.  She now wants a scapular.

True it no sin to wear costume Jєωelry.  However, wearing scapular, miraculous medal is not pushing my religion.  It is being Catholic.  It can bring conversions.  Our blessed Mother wants us to wear her Miraculous medal and scapular.

We don't water down our Catholic faith to appease others.
Also, many ladies from my Chapel dress modestly and don't look frumpy.  And they wear scapulars and miracous medals, crosses and other Jєωelery.

Even everyday novous ordo women wear miraculous medals and crucifixes everyday even to special occasions.  Even Protestants too wear crosses everyday and to special events.

EWTN is supposed to represent the Catholic Church.    We shouldn't water down the faith ever.
Truth in Christ bring conversions.   Nothing is more frumpier when women or young girls at world youth day wear these man t shirts and jeans or worse.
Are worn.   You can look stylish and wear longer length dresses and skirts and decent blouses.
Maybe EWTN should include a jumper and miraculous wearing women in their lineup.  Children learn by examples.

May God bless you and keep you
