Since wearing my miraculous medal and brown scapular, I don't need any secular Jєωelry.
I'm dressing with modesty too. My husband gave me my miraculous medal before we became tradcats.
However, when I watch EWTN, I see Catholic women wearing costume Jєωelry and hosting shows. Many woman are watching these programs.
Should we mail them brown scapular, miraculous medal, crucifix?
Why are Catholics afraid of being Catholic?
The point of most of these shows is to attract people to their version of Catholicism. They don't need to attract those who are already on their side. They want to attract worldlings. Worldlings are not swayed and convinced by a bunch of frumpy moms in jumpers with their scapular hanging out and a Miraculous Medal the size of a hand.
I'm the last person to defend EWTN, but how do you know they don't wear a scapular, crucifix, or medal under their clothing? Did you check? That seems presumptuous.
I always wear a scapular but not always medals, due to breaking and losing them. I don't wear a crucifix because most of them are so badly made that I don't feel they honor Our Lord. I also wear costume Jєωelry for special occasions where it is my state in life to do so. I don't prefer it, but I know that it is expected and I want to show people that I am dressing my best for their event. Proper decorum is also modest. Throwing your religiosity in someone's face and thinking yourself better, is not modest.
Lastly, it is not a sin to wear Jєωelry. It isn't just or charitable to make it sound like it is. I'm saying this as the frumpy mom in the jumper that always looks terrible.
