  • Huge Mennonite community and I cant help it some ARE my friends. How can you not love modest, sincere, bible preaching, do lots of good works, avoid television people?

Now I cant help but share and speak of my Traditional Catholic Faith. How does one even begin to explain it though when :

    A) All they have seen and experienced has been Modern Day Novus Order many of whom are Charasmatic.
    B) They keep reading out of their Book Of Martyrs about how us Evil Catholics either torchered or killed the Anabaptist (Told me one about Friar Cornelius???)

It really puts a lump in my throat. Im no apologetic. I know that where they are is a heck of a lot better than most NO's. Truly beautiful people but very cautious when dealing with Catholics.

A non practising Catholic Just committed ѕυιcιdє a few months ago. They were telling me what the Catholic Service was Like. I just sat there shaking my head. The priest mentioned nothing about the sin of killing ones self. Apparently he is in heaven. Would everyone who is Catholic please stand up and receive Holy Communion which promises Eternal life.

Half the people (according to the mennonites) were either common law, dressed immodestly, none were seen to have been in for confession, very few were known to even care about their Catholic Faith.

Then there is Me quoting The Council Of Trent Catechism. Explaining that yes we are Catholic no the ones that actually make up the largest percentage on this planet dont actually follow their Catholic Faith. Its all confusing to most.

It really puts a lump in my throat. I resort to prayer but how I wish I could just be better informed and witness to these sincere Christians.

  • That lump in your throat- its sort of a permanent fixture for traditional Catholics, isn't it? :smirk:

Trust me you, I know what you're going through. Engaging with those who are faithful to their religion, even if a false religion, can be humbling when you profess the beauty the splendors of your Faith, and are confronted with the oxymoron of the Novus Ordo church. What's interesting is that this phenomenon is not exclusive to our day and age. Even St. Augustine would speak of Christians who engaged or participated in events which were less than good and actually warned new, soon to be baptized Christians of these people, more than he did of pagans around them.

If your experience is anything like mine was when dealing with good-willed, religious non-Catholics, I would immagine engaging with your friends may make you a stronger Catholic. I know when I was surrounded by Mormons, who were generally good young men, in high school, their questions about my religion challenged me to actually learn my Faith. (since I wasn't taught it in CCD of course  :fryingpan:). I'll always remember the question my good friend asked me which embarrassed me when I could answer and caused me to learn about the beauty of our Church; he asked, "Do you know the history of your Church? How it came to be and what happened in the early years of it?" No, I didn't; ouch. But I made it my mission to learn from then on!

My current state in life is the opposite scenario of what you're going through, and what I grew up with. The people I am around on a daily basis have no religion; at all. If anything they have a loathing for all organized religion and are completely 'of the world' and cherish their false freedoms.

Dear Annie, the main point that you need to realize is that Catholics are actually far better than Heretics.
It won't do them much good if they look all quaint and don't watch tv, but reject the Faith.
Non Catholic "Bible Christians", or whatever, are not pleasing to God.
They have to reject their Heresies.

The two parts of your post which I have bolded, are the parts which indicate where your problem originates.
You have some sort of Coptic background, I believe. It is important not to allow any kind of confusion to reside in your soul.
The Roman Catholic Church is the only means of salvation.
All protestant sects are the work of the devil.
Also, a really basic book on apologetics - or even something from a Catholic apologetics website - might help.

They are simply wrong in their bias against Catholics.

The attitude to take is that Roman Catholicism is the truth.
And that these people need to convert to Catholicism to save their souls.
A good thing to do is to give them Catholic Apologetics books or leaflets which refute protestantism.
It is important to pray for their conversion.
Also, make sure that they do not lead YOU away from the Faith.
Francis is an Antipope. Pray that God will grant us a good Pope and save the Church.
I abjure and retract my schismatic support of the evil CMRI.Thuc condemned the Thuc nonbishops
"Now, therefore, we declare, say, determine and pronounce that for every human creature it is necessary for salvation to be subject to the authority of the Roman Pontiff"-Pope Boniface VIII.
If you think Francis is Pope,do you treat him like an Antipope?

  • The Catholic Church is the largest Charitable organization in the world.

Their (Protest-ants) Book is errant and mistranslated (about 150 times).

King James was a Sodomite Queer.

The Reformation in England had Nothing to do with Faith, but a Whoremongering King who insisted he be borne a son, wished for a divorce, wouldnt be granted one by the Pope, Killed his wife anyway to marry, and then started his own Church.
And then the real fun in England started.

'The Reformation, was a devastation of England, which was at the time when this event took place, the Happiest country, that the world had ever seen; but Afterwards marched on inflicting torments on the people, and shedding their innocent blood; hospitals and other religious foundations were confiscated by the Reformers and Jєωs, who brought to England the misery of Pauperism "
-William Cobbett, Protestant Author-A History of the Protestant Reformation in England and Ireland

Jєωs, Mennonites and Quakers were knee deep in it, soon debtors prisons followed and england was never the same.

  • There are many distractions and deceptions among us here on earth.  We need to keep our eyes on Jesus.

They are very kind people.  Two plain families have been extremely kind to us.  "Catholic" assistance is often wrapped up in government organizations and funding. The plain people are extremely kind from their personal life towards everyone. We were strangers, they didn't give us a # to call but really helped us.
