  • How can we reconcile the idea that the best way to govern is through subsidiarity with the opposite tendency of the Church to be ruled by an authoritarian Pope from above as absolute monarch? They say that in the early Church Bishops had more power and the Pope was a spiritual father who did not have as much power over the little things that happened in the Church but now it seems that the Pope has become the Church and the faith has become whatever the Pope says it is.
